boarders to everyone, and arm ourselves even more with nuclear weapons?
The reason i am asking this is because China, Russia, France, and Germany always block UN resolutions on things to be done about countries like Iran, and korea getting nuclear weapons. Iran wants Israel wiped off the map don't forget.
and as for us we are their worst enemy, and even worse when they blow us all to bits they go on to a BETTER LIFE!! so they won't think twice about striking us.
If we shut up shop and arm ourselves even more, and become as secretive as certain countries in this world, then i am certain every country in the world would be begging us to get around the table.
As it is now, no one is interested in what we say, even if it means evil countries like Iran and Korea arming themselves with WMD.
The world is on the brink of a nuclear war, thats no bullsh*t!!
Don't get me wrong, i want no nuclear weapons at all.

Think about it, none of our troops getting killed because they are with their families, no ranting about immigration every day, trillions of dollars spent at home.
Lets all sit at home and watch these lowlifes kill each other, and when they have blasted each other back into the stoneage we can walk in and take everything off them.
Lets roll!!

Thank God someone has some logic..,if we continue to weaken our abilities to defend ourselves and they continue to strengthen its just a matter of time before we no longer exisit as we know it but we have too many appeasers and peace activists that want us to lay down all weapons and sing kumbya and the world will love us.They need to wake up and realize you have peace with strength.Great question..,not from the UK but will you be running for Prime Minister soon?

OK, to compete in a weapons war (remember the cold war?) does not really work. We run the risk of malfunctions and it turning ugly on the country with the malfunctioning nuke.
With that said, we should return to our countries, close our boarders and focus on building our own nations. That does not mean we do not keep an eye out on the countries who would like to be a super power. I think the US and maybe UK have a corner market on that right now.
The way to disengage from a fight is to stop fighting. Our people here in the US are unhappy with the way things are going. We need to focus on our country and what we can to do improve conditions here. I believe we have flexed our muscles enough and people know we do not just sit back and take it. I still say that we should work on fixing our own countries rather than destroying others.
Protect our boarders, work on employment and health care, housing and education (not in that order) then things can work towards getting better.
But that is just my opinion.

How do you propose to seal our borders? I think we would do much better if we worked towards becoming friends with these "evil' countries and understanding their viewpoint. Isolationism has been tried by the U.S. in the past and we still entered WW2. More arms only scares our enemies and creates an arms race. Far better that we spend our dimes helping rather than harming. After all, without opposing ideaology there would be no progress.

It is the philosophy that we need to take care of our own house before we can help our neighbors. It has a lot of truth and value in it. But putting it into practice does not work as easy. The closed door policy has long been difficult if not impossible to keep because of the global economy, our commitments to protect allies, our dependence on other countries from goods and services, and of course our own people who are making a living through foreign investing and business.

I agree in a way. I think countries like the US and UK should spend more time looking after their own people rather than trying to take care of other countries. We pay taxes for services which are being run second rate because of wars in other countries.

It may seems to be reasonable right now for US to not involve with things happening all over the world. First being nothing absolute has been decided and acted upon countries like Iran and North Korea. Evil as they seems to be from our point of view, the whole world itself does not. Look at why some of the countries blocks UN resolution or best interest of US.
1. China and Russia benefits from Iran, especially oil.
2. China uses North Korea as buffer zone to control the influence in south east Asia as means of controlling Taiwan from seeking public recognition from separate state from China
3. China uses North Korea as bargain/bait trick for Japan and US. Due to past history issues and Koizumi's visit to military shrine caused lots of commotions.(China considers Koizumi's visit to shrine as denial/insult to China and other asian countries. The shrine is for military men of Japan, including those who were found war criminal that supposely commited atrocities.) You will notice that China tries to make the Peninsula nuclear free, but does not put up any strong actions to engage.
4. While US involves heavily involved with Iran and North Korea, China and Russia can build up drastic economy/military power of their own.(Recent purchases of planes, military technology, and etc.)
There are more, but I will cut short here for this.
As for the US involvement, it's the lesson US has been taught from WWII. As for the WWI, US got involved and lost lots of men. For WWII, US tried not to openly engage in world affair. This caused heavy casualty for US. US could have involved and stopped growth of Nazi and militarism/imperialism in Japan before it got too strong for cause heavy casualty to US side I think. After that if you look at the history, US have changed it's policy and openly engaged some of the world affair ever since. So whether current situation might not work as well as we hoped, it is our best interest to be involved and occupy some of the countries as a prevention.(Some worked/Some didn't)

I agree with you in spirit but is has been tried on various levels and it has been a failure. It does get tiresome that the UK and USA have to babysit the world but I suppose it is better than letting the Chinese and the Russian do it.

I think its time that WE (UK) remember that we are our own island. We are not joint at the hip, neck or back bone to any other country. Start looking on our own doorstep before we jump in and start slaughtering / maiming others within their own country.
