natural peanut butter is better for you. Even though it looks nasty because there is a layer of oil on the top that oil is natural and your body knowns how to break it down. Jiff and other peanut butters that no not have oil on the top have partially hydrogenated fat. This fat is man made adding hydrogens to the chemical structer which increases shelf life. This is not natural so the body basically saves it because it does not know what to do with it or how to break it down. They have not made a recommendation on how much of this fat should be avoided but they said it is equal to saturated fat which is the worst kind of fat. Jiff will say very little saturated fat but the trans (also known as partially hydrogenated fat) is in there so it adds to that. GO for natural peanut butter with the oil on top and just mix it up.

Yes, some are good and some are bad. When you buy peanut butter always check the ingriedents and make sure it doesn;t have any partially hydrogenated oils added in them. Also a lot of brands are high in added sugar. Try to get brands that have little or no sugar. Your best bet is to get natural peanut butter that only has peanuts and salt in the ingreidents
And your right about it being good! research has shown that a serving of peanuts or peanut butter(roughly a tablespoon) every day is beneficial to the health.
You can also make your own peanut butter by blending peanuts and salt together in a blender!

Get all natural peanut butter. This can be purchased at any grocery store or health food store. Regular peanut butter (like Jiff etc..) contains partially hydrogenated oils...stay away from that in any food product. All natural peanut butter is a good source of healthy fats when used sparingly and when put on whole wheat toast can help you feel fuller faster and will stay with you longer. Hope that helps...enjoy!!!

ALL NATURAL peanut butter= VERY GOOD.
(If the ingredients read anything except "Peanuts and Water" it isn't natural- some brands add salt- this is unessecary).
Regular over the counter peanut butter is very bad for you because it has lots of added sugar and trans fats.
Natural peaunut butter has good protien, and good fats (which fill you up and help you absorb nutrients like poly and monounsaturated fats). regular peanut butter has added bad fats and sugar (or worse high fructose corn syrup).
A HEALTHY peanut butter and jelly sandwich is one of the most healthy foods you can eat, but only if you make it healthy.
Use Natural peanut butter instead of crappy skippy or jif.
Use Whole wheat (make sure it is actually WHOLE weat and not just "wheat" bread) instead of white bread or another kind.
Use crushed blueberries instead of jelly (buy fresh blueberries and crush them yourself).

The best food is natural food, you know the stuff that grows on plants. Like someone else said, get some peanuts and grind them to make your own. It tastes great and is so much healthier than processed! I actually don't make my own but buy one that is 100% peanuts, NOTHING added; no salt, sugar, preservatives or anything. If you want to add sugar for sweetness, you could try 100% pure unprocessed natural honey or raw sugar. Good luck!

It's all good for you but only in moderation because it is high in fat and calories... Mixed nuts are slightly more nutritious than peanuts and lower in fat too so you might try cashew butter instead of peanut butter if you can find it....

I think that in general, peanut buttr is a good source of protein that is low in cost, but it can have a lot of sugar, oil and preservatives added. The thing to do is to compare brands based on content.

Peanut butter is good, as long as they don't have too much preservative, salt, and even added fat (they add grease when roasting). I'd just go eat unsalted peanuts myself.

it's good for your heart. buy organic, though, with much less fat and sugar. don't get any of that name-brand stuff (Skippy, etc) because that's pretty much peanut-flavoured icing. real peanut butter is definitely good for you.

PB that is all natural is better for you. Lots of PB has too much sugar which defeats the purpose. It is actually very high in protien. The brain uses protien so it's brain food.
