It's an outrage when the North Korean government spends all their funds on Nuclear technology that their people have to rely on outside aid in order to get food.
And what are they defending themselves from? The country is so destitute, they have nothing that would interest more powerful countries. All they can do is cause trouble threatening other countries and harassing South Korea, which is far more prosperous.

The Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) bans all nuclear explosions in all environments, for military or civilian purposes.
Okay, North Korea never joined the treaty... AND bailed from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in 2003. The US Government, though it has not yet ratified the treaty... has adhered to the ban !!
Plus, North Korea is an aggressive communist state in the former Stalinist mode... led by a dynastic dictatorship with a BAD reputation ! THEY are not developing or testing weapons for DEFENSE... just for BLACKMAIL !!
North Korea invaded the South in 1950 without warning or reason... North Korea continues to cross the border and conducts raids and infiltrations into the South. North Korea placed a bomb on a South Korean Airliner, killing hundreds. North Korea kidnaps South Korean and Japanese citizens. North Korea engages in counterfiet currency and drug smuggling to finance it's military
Now they test a Nuc-weapon and we're NOT supposed to be outraged ?? A country which behaves as they do...
NO ONE has invaded North Korea since World War 2...
The DPRK invaded the South... and the UN drove them out... and drove north to destroy the DPRK army. THEN CHINA dove in... even China admits that was a big mistake

First off, the ban on nuclear testing in not 'sudden'. There has been a treaty signed by all nuclear capable countries known as the 'Non Proliferation" treaty signed during the Reagan administration that prohibited ALL countries from nuclear testing. We have enough computing power using super computers to do 'modeling' negating the need for real world testing. To do so seems more like a PR stunt than anything, proclaiming; Hey! look at me! I have the ability to wipe you out now, so don't mess with me. Is it right to have that capability? Debatable, since not one country since WW2 has ever used the tech in anger. So why make a big deal out of it now? Because past experience has shown the more nuclear capable countries, the more likely someone will use one, by accident, or with purpose to destroy.

Are you kidding? PRNK is a very unstable country. The leader barely provides for his people and they have been consistent in only one thing, deceiving the world. With nuclear weapons on the korean peninsula (on either side) there is a very likely chance an arms race will ensue and one will actually be used.
it is not the testing that worries the world it is the nation which is doing it.

If your talking about north korea what do they need to defend themselves against. That little pipsqueak midget dictator has already ruined his country. His own citizens are starving while he and the military live high on the hog. Look at South Korea. They have a decent government and that country is an economic powerhouse where everybody prospers.

North Korea already had the means to defend itself. This was really part of their sales pitch in order to sell reliable nuclear technology to the highest bidder. Blackmailing the west is just an added bonus.

What a asinine statement. Countries like N Korea are not going to use it to defend, but to get what they want. If they had Missile that were good enough, they would have already shot nukes at us! They need to wiped of the map if you ask me. And as for you, you liberal *****! go live in N Korea if you do not like the way we do things here!

It is not a question of defending them self's...its a way to black mail the world....NK has time and time again proved that they are quick to the gun...with there surrounding countries....Many countries know that if they do testing than...they will lose all aid and other incentives....They are just hurtin them selfs and their country....

because they are threatening to use it on the U.S. just because they don't like us and our ideals. Plus we had a treaty with all countrys to no longer produce nuclear weapons for fear of a nuclear fallout
