my son is 8 months old and is still not sitting up!? he goes on his stomach and will roll over from front to back but as far as sitting up, he has no desire too. My daughter sat up at 5 and a half months. I know every child is different but isn't 8 months late? When i try to sit him up and let go, he will balance himself for 5 to 30 seconds and then fall either to the side or straight forward. Help!! I even got him the bumba seat to help him!!

He will eventually get it. Sounds like he just don't want to do it right now. I thought something was wrong with my daughter at six months because she would not crawl. Instead, she started walking at seven months. Found out that she did not want to be up on her knees. Some babies just do things at their convenience. Continue making him sit up as much as possible and he will start doing it more on his own.

It does sound a little late.... but you never know. My sister has 2 girls and neither one even tried to walk until after 3 and everyone kept saying there was something wrong.....they went through all the tests and couldn't find anything.....I guess I would go see the doctor to have some tests and to see what the Dr. says...but they'll probably just tell you that he'll sit when he's ready.... It could be a visual problem and maybe he has trouble balancing because of it.

little ones improve at their own rates. If she is crawling at this age, she's no longer developmentally in the back of schedule. She in basic terms would not like sitting, it somewhat is fantastic. She could in basic terms quite be doing some thing else. She is definitely quite far from the age the place she would desire to be strolling. the uncomplicated age for little ones to start strolling is 13-14 months previous. My son has been pulling up and cruising on condition that 9 months previous, and at 13 months previous, he nonetheless has no activity in strolling. the traditional variety for beginning up strolling is 9-18 months. there is an exceptionally enormous decision for huge-unfold while it comprises toddler develpoment. how briskly a baby develops has no touching on how clever they're later in existence.

If your pediatrician is not concern, I am sure he is fine. My oldest, at one year of age would not walk, had little hair, and not one tooth. Then everything happened at once.
She is now a SF State College student and majoring in International Affairs and Photo Journalism.
Milestones have a rough average date, but a child can be outside the "average" range and can be just fine. It may be he has no interest in sitting up right now. He may be a more laidback, easygoing type child. I know that is true about my oldest. She rarely is excitable, but highly intelligent and creative. She can accomplish anything she sets her mind to.
Here is a good article about milestones, and the need to keep things in perspective. I hope you find reading it more reassuring:

You should put him in a walker, and massage the baby everyday this will help them develop fast. Some time if the baby is over weight may casue this to happen cause he can't hold up his weight. My sis son is 6 month old and he can't sit with out his mom holding him now since she does the above she and myself has seen inprovement with her baby boy.

all in good time, my daughter is 6 months old and she sits up by holding her hands on the floor for like 7 seconds, and my son was 6 1/2 months crawling around and sitting up. All I can say is, all in good time.

He will get there... For my daughters I used one of them boppy pillow the kind in the shape of a horseshoe. I have found that babys who are born early or tend to be a little more overweight can take a little longer grasping these concepts. Some are just way more laid back then others. I would ask my pediatrician next time you see him and see what he/she recommends.

Like you said all children develop differently. I would talk to your doctor if you are overly concerned. It could just be that he is just not interested in it yet. I would just keep trying even sit him up while you hold on to him just to strengthen his balance. He'll get the hang of it soon enough and then he'll be crawling everywhere soon after that!
Good luck

every child develops at a different rate but i would talk to your health visitor about this or if your not happy with what she has to say i would take him to your doctor. it might just be that he isnt ready to sit up but its better to be safe than sorry.
good luck.
