A Jap. sub was caught in Sabine River having lost navigational ability during WW2.
When, where, who and how? What's the story?

I googled it and can't find any information on it. Are you sure this happened?

There was a GERMAN submarine sunk in the Gulf of Mexico during WWII, but no captured japanese or german subs anywhere nearby that I know of.

There were no jap subs sunk in the gulf of mexico never mind the sabine river.

One sank the oiler Mobiloil, thats all I have seen online. Not even a date.
