From the Age of 7 to 35 I read a lot of books,usally novels mostly adventure and Sci Fi.15 yrs ago I quit completely I lost interest I had a hard time focusing.This was after extensive treatment for Alcohol use,Depression and anxiety.Now I am seeking an Adult ADD evaluation.Is the lost of interest in reading pertinent?

Yes it could be. I would definitely mention it to your doctor during your evaluation. Most people with ADD have a hard time sitting down and concentrating long enough to read a book. It is actually one of the signs to look for.

On a side note for your personal enjoyment - have you tried reading short stories? There are many wonderful adventure and Sci Fi anthologies out there. If it's psychological instead of biological they might ease you back into the habit of reading, too. Reading is great for you and it releases various pleasure chemicals in your brain.

Get a magazine subscription to magazines like Readers Digest and start reading detective novels. That is how I started back into reading. Ann Rules books are good too.

Why are you counting? It concerns extra the popular of what you study and what interpreting point you're at. although if that's 15 books in 2 years at an 8th grade interpreting point, you're doing properly.

yes. try reading short stories and magazines to get back into it.

do you want to read? maybe you could start with articles in a magazine, then increase your time...
