new york is a state built by immigrants; a lot of the folks living in Texas and Arizona are descendants of folks who passed through New York from Europe. Texas and Arizona are states built by colonists, a whole other animal. They don't have the same convictions as New York; far more inward looking. New York is proud of America and proud to be part of America. I don't know about Arizona, but Texas still thinks it's a nation unto itself.
Perhaps if the populations of Texas and Arizona were made up of immigrants and of people who are aware that they are the descendants of immigrants, there wouldn't be such a difference.
Perhaps if the FBI and the federal government hadn't sought to demonise Mexican migrant workers during the early part of the last century, there wouldn't be such fear of these people today; after all, their labour by and large feeds america

NYC has many initiatives for "Legal" immigrants as it was the gateway to America, but Texas and Arizona are dealing with "illegal" immigration, people running the boarder who we do not have names/info on and could be anything from criminals or terrorist to just day laborers looking to better their life, but how are we to know without any means to track them.

No one disputes that the USA is very open to legal immigration, and we promote the ability of immigrants to better their lives, but NO ONE is for illegal immigration. Yes, we need a better system and more boarder control, but the biggest factor would be to build up Mexico and bring them up to the N. American standard so that their people do not have to flee their own country to better themselves.

Oh honey don't be fooled by the oakie doak! Texas and Arizona has it too. Texas and Arizona has more immigrants then you imagine. I don't know about Arizona but I've lived in Texas for years and I know for a fact that they will help immigrants in a heartbeat before they help their own people. The horrible thing about it is that Texas is helping them too much. Now all of the American citizens feel that they're being ignored and left out of programs, jobs housing. I heard through the grapevine that the Mexican people are planning on taking Texas back! I don't know if they can do it or even if it's true. But I wouldn't be surprised on them trying. Bush is giving them all the ammo they need by being so nice to them. Well I'm not going to worry about it anymore because I'm back North in my home state and I'm never leaving it again except to go on vacations!

I don't understand why we need initiatives to help immigrants to contribute to society. They obviously have some reason for wanting to be here.

If there is assistance offered it should be for immigrants who came to the US legally. Texas and Arizona both have assistance programs to help immigrants but not illegal immigrants! There is a difference between the both. I don't think that we should have to be obligated to assist anyone whom is not a LEGAL CITIZEN.

The big idiots here in NYC are assholes, and TX and AZ are smart to make the immigrants lives harder because they get treated better than US citizens

They are being "bled-dry" by the flood of illegal aliens crossing our State borders. Once they "flop" onto our side, we have to "render" any and all medical care that a "Citizen is entitled to receive; yet, they have NO legal or financial obligation to repay the expenses incurred!
Only "goofy pecker-woods" in "NYC" think the rest of our Nation or the world, can just "Poop Bags of Money" out of their "****" and throw it at any problem that arises, then cure it for good!
You "ding-bats" that do not live in a border State, like Texas, California, Arizona, New Mexico, do not know what it is like or how bad it has become! Crime, severe crime is rampant! It is becoming more dangerous every day. Murder, Rape, Kidnapping, is a constant menace, behind "drugs" as the "normal-crimes" go...
How long will it take you "goofy-damn'd yankee's" to figure out that you are not safe once our "Border States" are lost, to the flood of illegals pouring in to our Country? They will just leave you alone, and not expect you to pay "barter"(taxes) since they now control and own CA, TX, AR, andNM?
It is your problem, as well as ours! How many more attacks on you "goofy-ba*tards" will it take, before you realize that your arrogance and stupidity, only causes more problems and trouble for the rest of us?
During 9/11 we gladly, and proudly came to your aid, because you are our fellow citizens. Try to respect us and see the "nightmarish dilema" we are in; our homes and lives are not safe, anymore!! "Illegal's" commit horrendous crimes(Murder, Robbery, Rape) then run and jump across the border, where they are safe from "prosecution," here! Our daily news reports show it everyday, like we live in iraq, that is how bad it has become!
It is our problem! Not yours, right??

The boarder states experience all the consequences first.

Murder, Crime, Theft, over burdened schools, hospitals shut down from illegal aliens using emergency rooms as free birthing centers and primary health care. Over crowed jails. Abuse of social services!

Why should they want to encourage more illegal aliens to enter the county?

LEGAL OR LEAVE!!!!!

Why are they here if they require an incentive to contribute to society??? Some states would prefer to use the tax dollars of their citizens to help the legal citizens.
