I am an African American female and my hair is mid-way my back. I want to grow my hair out-fast because I'm getting married June 2, 2007 and I want to wear my natural hair for my wedding. I have split ends now and I was wondering if my hair can grow full and healthy if I don't cut my split ends? I'm afraid hairstylist may cut too much of my hair and I'd have to start over with length. Please help. Is there any way to remedy the problem of split ends without cutting them off?

Ok i'm African American also! CUT THEM OFF! The split ends will run up the shaft of your hair and fall out! Having it cut and grow back is better than being bald......unless you want that! Just cut them off and your hair will grow back healthier! Our hair is different we can't do everything to it and it will be fine! Our hair takes more to do with when it's damaged! I had the same problem with split ends! I don't have it anymore because i Put a hot oil treatment in every week with a conditioner for 20 min! Get jojoba oil and a good moistrizing conditioner! then a good leave in Conditioner. try to let your hair air dry! Too much heat and pulling can damage it more! just be very careful with products that have alcohol they dry your hair out!

Hey, congradulations first on your upcoming wedding. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing a few years ago and believe me, getting your ends clip regular is a good think, your hair will be so much healthier and will grow longer. Once I started doing it, my hair took off, in fact I'm due now for another trim, I hope this helps and good luck to ya! Oh try a place like Great Clips or somewhere that specializes in haircuts, I was scared too, but they will actually take a trim off if you tell them too, altough, the guy that trimmed by hair told me I had breakage and he was showing me as I he was cutting, he ended up cutting 2 inches and that was in april and my hair was lip-length, now it's october and my hair is touching my shoulder. Again I hope this helps and have fun!

split end look bad, even with curly or kinky hair it makes it look too frizzy. talk to you stylist and make sure she takes just the split ends and why. The nice thing about curly hair is it hides a lot but not split ends. Oh, I don't know do you straighten you hair if so I would wear it a little relaxed and do away with hot irons as that will damage your hair.

I'm afraid there's no way around it. If you don't cut off the dead ends your hair will look unhealthy and take longer to grow. Tell your hair stylest exactly what you want and watch as he/she cuts. Explain to them you only want your split ends cut it should be fine.

Trim them because they weaken the hair structure and will slow hair growth down. Speak to your stylist and ask her to cut the split ends, she can give you an estimate about how much she will have to cut. To help your hair grow faster, try biotin, eat a healty diet and drink water/

Get your ends trimmed. The longer you wait, the worse the ends get, and you will have to cut more. One inch will do the trick. Anyway, do you really want to walk down the aisle with frizzy dead ends? Your hair will look much better. Also, you have eight months before the wedding!

Its best that you do get the split ends cut. Tell them you only want two inches cut off. No more..

f you don't cut your split ends off they will only continue to split up even higher! go to your stylist and have her/him start with the initial cut - watch carefully - if it seems too much - have them show you the ends. if still feel you don't trust them - leave - even with one piece shorter than the rest and find another salon - you can style your hair back, pull it back or whatnot in the interim.

Unless you know someone or yourself can cut your hair, you should go to a stylist. Let her know exactly what you said here and he/she wil cut it for you. You should cut your split ends so your hair will grow healthier and faster.

I believe that if you trim the split ends your hair will be healthier and the healthier your hair is the better it will grow.
