typically, unless they're family, I would expect to be paid about $6-$7 an hour for 1-2 kids. Since you're watching SEVEN kids, $10 an hour would not be at all unreasonable...maybe even MORE since two of them are pretty young.
Are they short on money? That might be a reason why they don't pay you as much as you should be getting, but babysitting for 3 hours for no pay(when there's 7 kids involved) is not right. I would suggest politely stating that you could use the money, and that you can't afford to babysit for three hours without being paid, and that if they can't pay you you will need to find another job where you WILL make money.
Though perhaps you could put it a little more tactfully...I'm not very good with being tactful...
Hope this helps you!

Wow I wish I had your phone number! You sound like a really lovely person. It's great that those kids have had the same babysitter for all those years. You must be a close friend of the family. They obviously trust you with all their little darlings and the kids must like you.
I have 4 kids under 7 and I don't believe in paying for a babysitter at this stage of my kids lives. They are so young, I don't want anyone looking after them who doesn't know them well enough to want to spend time with them. We have plenty of friends who babysit our kids for us when we want a night out. We offer chocolates as a thankyou and some friends even refuse the chocolates saying it was a pleasure!
Perhaps these parents have a similar philosopy except that they have much older kids than me. I would suggest that at 15, their eldest is probably old enough now to watch the others while the parents go out. If you've had enough, or feel like you're being ripped off, you might like to mention after your next babysitting job, "You know, I've really enjoyed spending time with your kids over the last 5yrs. They are a delight and you do such a wonderful job as parents, I find it hard to refuse your requests for babysitting. Thanks also for the money you've given me, it's sure come in handy. I'm going to have to tell you though, I won't be available for future sitting jobs because I'm getting a job since my expenses are increasing. I'll come over to say goodbye to the kids next week after you've told them. Thanks again. Bye"
It's possible they'll beg you to stay and they might even offer you more money!

You should be getting paid A LOT more!! I charge $5 an hour for 1 kid and for each additional kid $1 more. So you should be getting paid like $11 an hour for all those kids.

You have been underpaid for so long on this deal, they owe you IBM stock for your college fund, sweetheart!
I'm afraid that you have made parenting such an easy task for these people that they have gone on to produce multiple additional offspring, secure in the knowledge that you'd watch them for nearly free!
You should get a hundred dollars for each overnight with 7 kids, and $10 an hour plus expenses, food, and anything in her wardrobe you want to take home for daytime assignments.
Lose these foks, with the quickness!

i charge $5 for one child/ hour and $1 each extra child/ hour
i think if they dont give u decent pay u should just say i have a better offer from another family and they will be taking up all my extra time...
then see what they say maybe they can afford it... or ask if u could get a friend (or more) to help out...
if they are bad kids i would have ditched them long ago...

You should be paid by the hour. For seven kids i would charge $35.00 and hour ($5.00 per child). It is only fair. $25.00 for eight hours that is highway robbery. I would never babysit 7 kids for that little.
