Fred Phelps (may his name and memory be erased from history) and his followers are neither Christian or human. They have, long ago, forfeited the right to be called human. They are simply agents of pure evil.

I can't think of a lot of things more disgusting than that church. A lot of times I wonder if they really believe that stuff, or if they just act that way to get media attention. What a bunch of deluded morons.

They literally side with the terrorists. When they say "THANK GOD FOR 9/11," they're saying that what bin Laden did was OK, because after all, that's what God wanted to happen anyway. Any group or organization that supports what Al-Qaida does, doesn't deserve ANY sort of attention whatsoever.

About as much as the Fox News network actuallly represents a "fair and balanced" view of poiltics... ;)

Seriously, not even close. Along with the Golden Rule, this church misses out on the fairly obvious instructions of Jesus to love one's enemies, pray for one's persecutors, and do good to those who do evil to you, among many, many others. This "church" essentially consists of one man, Fred Phelps, about 15 of his extended family, and then whatever sycophantic "followers" they manage to recruit via the internet. I'm not even going to mention the URL of the WBC's website as it exceeds the bounds of appropriateness even to type it for informational purposes... perhaps you will see what I mean if someone else decides to fill you in. But suffice it to say that, no, this group does not even come close to representing 99% of Baptists, let alone Christians.

According to Wikipedia...

"Not only is Westboro opposed by supporters of gay rights, but most other Christian groups (including those who agree with Westboro that homosexuality is a sin) oppose Westboro's theology and practice, believing it to be incompatible with authentic Christian teachings.[8]"

I have met other Christians with similar viewpoints to the Phelps group but they keep it quiet. But no, it is not a good representation of Christianity.

I dont go around saying "The USA deserved 9/11".

I dont go around bashing gays.

I dont go protesting at soldiers' funerals

I dont go protesting at funerals of murder victims (they planned to do so to the Amish awhile back).

None of the other Christians here in my country do any of that either...

So the answer is most definitely NO.

I'm not a Christian, and even *I* realize that they are not an accurate representation of Christianity - they are a small group of freaking idiots who are warping their religion into their own personal interpretation in order to support their own hatred and bigotry.

Absolutely not. Those people are horrible.

AND I believe that the fact that they're using God's name in doing something so horrible that God will punish them even more harshly. The fact that they would do something like that is terrible. Even worse that they would use God's name in doing so.

Kind of like in the Crusades. Yeah, those people are burning in Hell.

In my opinion, no person who believes in God should rejoice in the death of another, especially when that person was killed in the line of duty.

True Christians, and people of faith in all religions, should not judge, but should know that God is the ultimate judge and leave things in His hands. Also, they should concentrate on comforting the survivors, not compounding their pain.
