I can't seem to understand why one should feel a need to feed the collection plate, if the information is totally free. Not for profit or for profit.

Well you hit the nail on the head...no pun intended. I do not attend church in an organized fashion. My church is wherever I choose to pray to God or talk to Him. A church is not a building, it is the spirit of the people within. Even satan can enter the building if he wants to. I am quite certain he has been in on a good many services and probably laughed as a message was given that was either completely wrong or simply misleading. He may even have put the most money in the collection plate to help that preacher obtain more earthly wealth.I think many will be surprised to find out what the church they attend really has as it's agenda.

Yes, the information is totally free, but the electricity and water used by the church is not given free. No one gave the church the land or the building materials for free. The people who work at the church have bills to pay and families to feed and those things are not free. There are also people who come to the church in need of money to buy food and clothing and those things are not free either.

Because it is written in the Bible that one needs to fellowship to strengthen their spirit, thus attending church presents the most optimal place to fellowship. As far as collection goes, you should not feel the need to place any money it the collection plate if you are not a member, in contrast if you are a member you should pay your ties and offering in hopes of becoming a good steward. If you are too self absorbed to realize that the gift of life is just that a gift I can see how one like yourself would find ties and offering as a bother. Please do realize you do not have to go thanks to the grace of God granting us with the double-edge-sword of free will. However, I myself feel that money is very little to pay for the gift the lord our God gave us. Moreover, if you find this gift to be a trite and pointless gift maybe you should ask yourself why you question the point of church. For I believe some churches are just out for money, the church is still the best place to have fellowship and find answers about God. So maybe a little self-observation is the solution or best answer to this question. In addition, if you read the Bible whenever you have such a question I believe you would find all the answers you need. If not go to church and ask.

Church isn't a business. The collection plate was created to help support the church, but now a days, there is no obligation to give. I very rarely leave any money in the collection plate, and no one has hunted me down for it or barred my way into mass. You can go and not pay, the collection is volunteer only.

That's why I don't go to church.

Some people go in order to have fellowship with other Christians, or to hear interpretations on certain scriptures.

I have my fellowship with Christians daily, and we talk about different scripture each time. That's my church.

We go to hear the good news. When we give a part of our earnings, we are showing our love to those who needed it most.

God loves a cheerful giver. When you give you receive a hundredfolds from God.

Church is a buisness and thier product is fear.
Fear of "hell" fear of "demons" and other such childish nonsense.
It's a con-game and like all such con's, the victims are the gullible idiots in the pews.
