A parent paying for a child to go to school is a PRIVILEGE which that child should treasure. It is not a right of every child to go to college. One must work hard to earn privileges in life, and it sounds as though the child didn't appreciate what they had and deservedly lost it.

My mother agreed to pay for my school as long as my GPA was a certain level.. If the mother and child discussed the terms before the child left for college then the mother was right.

Your mother was right, start taking it serious or pay for it yourself. I'm not sure why so many moms are footing the bill for college these days anyway. No one picked up the tab for me. Once the money starts coming out of your own pocket, you'll appreciate the education more.

I paid my own way through school. Why should the kid get handouts? Especially if those handouts are unappreciated and abused?
