Remember that you are just dreaming and you have control of your dreams. You can start recording your dreams in a journal. It might help you to control the dreams.
Also try not to eat anything before you go to bed.
There is nothing wrong with prayer and there is nothing wrong with getting help.
You could have a sleep disorder. So you could go see a doctor too. Some people have nightmares due to sleep paralysis and sleep apnea.

What you need is a good dose of peace of mind. It sounds like something is internally terrorizing you. You need to either deal with it if it is an outside thing, or talk about it. And sometimes there are subconscious things that are sort of "stuck" in our wonderful brains. Maybe some hypnotherapy? You ask for a taped version of it~ so you can see the session and see what your subconscious revealed.
p.s. and sometimes when I can't sleep I try and think about ALL WHITE. Like a white wall.
Oh and a psychic once said you have to ask God to go out and come back "into" your body quickly. " a quick exit and entrance"
Good luck and God bless.

Remember fear is the killer. I used to have the same problem before, but it did not stop me from sleeping. I know how hard it is for you but it needs practice. This one has become automatic to me. Every time I have a nightmare I recite the Lord's prayer. The bad dream goes away before I could finish the prayer. I change my position and go back to sleep. My brother is stronger. Once I can not sleep because of a strong typhoon. I saw my brother snoring in his bed. In the morning I asked him how did he do that? He replied: "Don't you have faith?" It is our fear that kills us not the nightmare or the typhoon. Only a habit can kill another habit. The habit of faith will kill the habit of fear.

Recite scripture. The 23rd Psalm is easy to remember and recite. The demons will flee.

Say your prayers before you go to bed and make the Lord the last one on your mind. He will take those bad dreams from you.

Instead of listening to the brainless moron who posted the first reply (let me get this straight idiot, you want this person who has a REAL problem to pray to an IMAGINARY character? Great plan shat-for-brains) and get some actual professional help.
Good luck.
