I take just 7.5mg @ night, instead of the recommended 15 -30mg and find that after a week my mood is GREAT! Not a fake / false feeling either, just a real zest for life - how it should feel. I thought i'd ask this question seeing as Mirtazapine does not come up in a search on Yahoo! Answers so far! Be great to hear your experiences on Mirtazapine....

I have nursed plenty of people prescribin Mirtazapine.

You must be one of the lucky ones...as The majority of people i've come into contact with don't notice any real benefits and usually request a change to something else.

Medications for mental illness are very much a "Horses for courses" trial...
What helps one person may not help the next and its very trial and error.

Anyway...I'm glad your noticing the positive symptoms and are doing well on Zispin.

I take 45 mg of Mertazapine at night and only today asked my Psych doc for something else as I don't think it still works , I'm very down so I'm not even getting the false okay feeling you mention. However I would tell your doc you have changed the dose and describe the change you feel. Maybe you are better and don't need Ad's anymore so you might be able to further reduce and get off them altogether. I'm desperate to get better my life is in tatters.

I used to take this and found from day one that it would knock me right out every day. It was good in one sense that I didnt have to be awake to face 'it all', I was so sleepy that even when I was awake I found it hard to talk to my partner or get up and make my tea..... needless to say I asked to come off these after 3 months.

I am happy that they work for you though!

:-D
