Why do they? I suppose because premillennial dispensationalism fulfills a need in them to be 'special'. Also because some churches just teach it and the adherents are not what I would call 'critical thinkers' anyway, so they accept the concept wholeheartedly.
Personally Darby's tenets never rang true for me when I was studying Christian philosophies. How he could equate American and European Christians with Jews as God's chosen people defies logic. Then there is the rapture controversy. I never could buy that one either.

Okay, I have been reading a lot in the past year why my denomination (Nazarene) believes what it does. I had not heard of John Darby before, so thanks for the insight. John Darby interpreted the Bible (namely Revalations) in a very specific way. Revelations has been interpreted about 100 different ways. I don't think we'll know what's true about it (if it's all metaphors or literal) until it happens. Many people have adopted Darby's beliefs. I think Left Behind was a way of bringing those beliefs to the masses. If people don't know where the idea of Left Behind came from, it's up to them to read for themselves and decide what they believe. Some Christians feel we will be here during the seven years. We don't know for sure. It's all open to interpretation.

Pseudo Ephraim and others preached it centuries before John Darby. It is in the Apostles teachings. Remember, the Bible only started coming into the hands of common man after 1611. It took a while for people to get it then study it.

They may have not known what you were talking about. If not here's an explanation about dispensationalism.
"The twentieth century has seen a dramatic paradigm shift in prophetic perspectives, first away from and now back toward its historic roots. This shift away from historic Christianity stemmed from a novel approach to Bible interpretation called dispensationalism which was developed in the 1830s and popularized with the 1909 publication of the Scofield Reference Bible. Dispensationalism, with its unique brand of premillennialism, has been thoroughly pervasive, being prominent in many churches, in bookstores, and among radio Bible teachers.
The distinguishing features of dispensationalism are a rigidly applied literalism in the interpretation of Scripture, a compartmentalization of Scripture into "dispensations," and a dichotomy between Israel and the Church. Dispensationalists believe "this present world system . . . is now controlled by Satan" (not by God) and will end in failure and apostasy. "
I'm not a Christian so I really can't answer your question.

Perhaps because the prophesies regarding the theory are still in the Bible. It's simply an interpretation.
Also, some Christians probably aren't quite sure what is meant by "dispensationalism."

Personally, I am not a "modern evangelical Christian". I have no idea who John Darby is(was), and do not believe in dispensationalism.
That's why I didn't bother.

It is not John Darby's dispensationalism. It is found in the Bible. This is not such a tough question.

Because John Darby started a lot of the garbage they now believe, and they are emboldened by the actual restoration of Israel as a state, he predicted that 130 years before it actually happened. They don't know it, but it's their roots....
