Prep with a heat-protecting curl enhancer.Don't use the curling iron clamp. Unless you're curling the very ends of the hair, don't use the clamp on your curling iron. Trying to wrap an entire section of hair in a clamped iron is a sure-fire way to fry the hair cuticle and create lots of frizz and dead ends. Instead, separate hair into 2" sections, and wrap each section around the barrel of the curling iron, holding hair in place for 10-15 seconds. You'll get a much cleaner curl, and hair is far less susceptible to frying.
Before you put your hair in the curling iron, spray some hairspray on it.

There are a few things to consider. How long is your hair and how thick it is? If your hair is long and or or thick it can then weigh down your curl. I would then say to get a long layered hair cut or get your hair thinned out alittle. If neither applies to you I would suggest to apply an aresol hair spray to each section of hair that you want to curl then wrap your hair around the curling iron and count to 12. The longer you apply heat to the hair the longer the curl will last and if you add too much hair hair spray it can also weigh the curl down too, so be careful. Hope this helps. :)

I have the same problem, so I asked my hairdresser. She said the best way is to use either harspray or gel BEFORE you use hot tongs or rollers, and again AFTER you use them spray your hair. And it seems to work, except it leaves it pretty stiff. If you want the long pretty curls, I have never heard of anything that will work. She said the curling enhancers (sprays, mousse, etc) work on your natural curls, so it won't really do anything. Also, I've found that if your hair is up, it stays a bit better than if it's down.

Eat pumpkins. I ate lots of pumkins and after a few months or so my hair became extremely curly. Now I let it grow quite bushy (I'm a guy) and then when I cut it I don't cut it too short, but enough for the curls to disappear, so every time my hair grows back it is more curly than before, and I have even stopped eating that much pumpkins. I don't however know how old you have to be for this to work. I was about thirteen when I started eating pumpkins, because I desperately wanted my hair to be curly, and now in the middle of this year my hair just started to curl, and I have no genetic explanation for that, so I think it was the pumpkins.

My hair is like that, i use my curling tongs and as i take pieces of hair to curl i spray it with that hot curl stuff. After it has cooled down i rub some mooses into my hands and scrunch my hair quite a few times, that usually holds the curls in place, hope that helped.

Everyone says wash yr hair & than curl it, i find if i curl my hair the next day its holds much better. The day after washing yr hair, put it into 4 sections, take the first section, make it abit damp, spray some gel spary on yr hair (NOT hair spary) than CURL....do the same for the other 3 section, tip yr head forward & spary a little gel spray & IT WILL HOLD YR curls !!!!!

i use a product by loreal and it does make your hair a little crispy but my hair is mega fine and holds curls well but even my friends hair which is thick goes curly with this stuff. smells a bit like hairspray though, quite cheap as well. pink botle loreal advertised by beyonce.. curl remedy or something
also try straightner curls.. ask your hairdresser, mine does curls with her GHD straightners, holds for hours and no spray needed! in thick hair as well, looks cool big thick curls! still curly 2 days later after washing!
