I often buy packet vegetables, from supermarket fridges, to save me chopping them up and preparing myself. Am I getting any nutrition from these or is it pointless?

You will be getting plenty of fibre, but a lot of the vitamins are destroyed in the packaging process. This is particularly true of prepacked salad leaves and spinach. This is because the bags are filled with a gas to prolong the shelf life, that though not harmful to us, strips the vegies of their nutrients.

Yeah they should be about the same nutritionally, just because someone else has chopped them up and peeled them instead of you. Not sure why they would be any less to be honest but if for some reason they had a little less nutritional value than unprepared stuff, its better than not eating them at all because you don't have the time to prepare them!

Yeah totally! For starters its lazy and more importantly, how do you know exactly how long its been in the packet?? At least with fresh produce you can be pretty certain its not more than a few days old.

You will still be getting nutriates from the pre-packaged stuff but the longer fresh fruit/veg is left, the less nutriates it will contain. You should also always steam your veg to preserve as many nutriates as you can.

Yes they are great for convenience. However, the bags are pumped with chemicals to keep them fresh, so suggest you eat in moderation. How long does it take to chop up a few toms/cucumber/onion minutes, so its just lazy really, but I understand your reasons for buying as I buy when I just cant be bothered to get the knife out! Fruit there is no excuse to buy in a packet.

You will be getting nutrition from them.
Its more a waste of money than anything else. How long does it take to chop a few vegetables for goodness sake?

It is a terrible waste of money and also the longer to leave vegetables cut the more vitamins they loose. So it is better to wash and chop them yourselves and serve them immediately.

well frozen vegies have to be better than vegies going off in the fridge, right? vegies in the fridge lose their vitamins and minerals a lot faster than frozen ones. make sure they're 'snap frozen' though, that means frozen very soon after being picked. honestly i don't blame you. it's probably more expensive though.

the full sparkling fruit and vegetables are extra perfect for you. They proceed extra nutrition and lots extra fiber. yet, it is lots extra perfect to drink a V-8 than not have adequate vegetables.
