Sussex is expensive.
A pint of cider costs £2.40 (6%) and a pint of real ale up to £2.50 (less than 5%).
There are rip-off pubs that charge more.
The City of London used to be identical or slightly cheaper than Sussex last century, but this may now have changed as London has prospered and Sussex has not. Not paid £3 for a pint anywhere yet! I think I hear of Guinness sneaking up to £2.85.

The average price for a run of the mill lager would be about £3 for a pint. If you go to a typical old man's pub it will probably be cheaper, in a wine bar it will cost you more. Obviously, if you order something quite unusual or with a very high alcohol content it will most likely cost you more.

3-7 quid. There are some enormous chains that do fish and chips yet you do no longer choose chain chips. you may ask around for "chip shops" or chippies and human beings will understand the place to deliver you. Elephant & fort circus has a team of pubs and chip shops that are actually not too high priced.
