We tell people the best time to have your kitty spayed is at 6 months. People are going to beat you up about not having her spayed before this happened. It can sometimes be hard to tell a Kitty's first heat that is probably when she got pregnant. Personally I would have her spayed NOW to save her from having any problems and any future heartaches if there is any problems with the kittens. Have you had her to the vet yet? would be a good idea to get your questions answered by a professional for your peace of mind.

so that you "do not position self belief in cat abortions"? so that you imagine YOUR kittens have better a real to stay than the safeguard cats and kittens which will be placed TO lack of existence at your interior of reach safeguard because you'll take homes from them? that's fairly egocentric - and harsh. And actuality is, being in hardship-free words 5 months old - a freaking KITTEN herself - your kitten would ok DIE even as giving delivery to those kittens when you consider that though she's hormonally waiting to be pregnant her body extremely isn't. Why in the international did not you get her spayed? And enable me wager - you allowed her to run round outdoors and that is how she were given pregnant? If that's so then she would are growing smaller tom cat Leukemia and both she and a majority of those kittens will die. How very, very unhappy that people like you exist. shame on you. edit: Volunteer_Gal - Purrfect acquaintances is the Northwest's greatest no-kill safeguard and kittens are spayed and neutered at 8 weeks and 2 pounds. Which safeguard are you claiming is the "Northwest's greatest"?

I feel that this is just plain wrong!! I too have a 5 month old kitten and shes still on kitten chow. I think of her as a baby because she is..I couldn't imagine her getting pregnant. I really feel bad for the kitten that's going to go threw this..I got my kitten at the SPCA so thankfully she was already spayed. She can't be ready for this. But I truly hope everything goes well for you and you kitten

You should definitely take her to a vet for an exam. That is very young for a cat to have kittens and it would be best to have the cat as a vet "client" in case there are problems with the delivery. Also it is important that she be given flea medication before the birth as you do not want to battle fleas on the newborns.

my cat had kittens at 9 months and they all died 5 of them,,they were born a week early and didnt even breath, she went crazy, and it broke my heart,so be prepared, sometimes a vet can find a surrogate mother if you hit problems as you are unlikley to hand rear them from birth, you can at maybe 2 weeks but not right away, keep your eye on her now as she may go away and hide and have them out of sight ,as on of my cats kittens got stuck, and had to be pulled out manually, never again

possibly can have trouble. 5 mo is young but in the wild they carry through.
Check w the vet on what you need to have on hand and what to watch for. Plan on having her spayed after the babies are weaned if they survive. It's possible she will carry and deliver but not bear any that survive.

Let nature take its course. She will be fine, maybe a bit weak after she gives birth. So feed her well. Its better to get her spayed after that.

I think that she will be fine but if you want to just in case you can get some more things for her, it says in the book. And if she was too young she wouldnt get pregnant. they cant. but i thing its great you want to help her
