Can You Use Whipping Cream In Place Of Heavy Cream

Well I am sorry to disagree, but in my book US heavy cream = UK double cream. Whipping cream US and UK, has a lower fat content than the former, so it may affect a recipe such as a souffle or a cream pie filling because it is not as hard when whipped. If your recipe depends on the stiffness of the cream for the right consistency and to help it set, then whipping cream is not a very good substitute. However, if the cream is just an addition to a cake mix or batter, then you certainly can substitute whipping cream for heavy/double cream. The cake may not be as moist when cooked (because of the lower fat content) but it will be OK. Whatever you decide to do, good luck!

You could, but be very careful not to deflate the whipped cream. I would whip the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until it's as light as possible. Then fold in a portion of the whipped cream to lighten it some more before gently folding in the rest of the cream.
Keep in mind real whipped cream is not sweetened as Cool Whip is, so if you like your mixture sweet, you may want to increase the powdered sugar.

They are pretty much the same thing. Just make sure you don't buy "lite" or "light" whipping cream.

It seems to me like they are the same thing. I really depends on what you're making, though.
