Prayer is the elevation of the mind and heart to God:
+ In praise of his glory
+ In petition for some desired good
+ In thanksgiving for a good received
+ In intercession for others before God

Through prayer the Christian experiences a communion with God through Christ in the Church.

"For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy." (St. Thérèse of Lisieux)

"Prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God." (St. John Damascene)

But when we pray, do we speak from the height of our pride and will, or "out of the depths" of a humble and contrite heart? (Psalm 130:1)

He who humbles himself will be exalted; humility is the foundation of prayer. Only when we humbly acknowledge that "we do not know how to pray as we ought," are we ready to receive freely the gift of prayer. "Man is a beggar before God."

With love in Christ.

Well it doesn't really matter how you pray but you could tell him these things . And here are some tips too !

Prayers

+ say your prayers
+ tell him to forgive you if you did any sins today
+ tell him what had happen today
+ pray to people who are sick

Support

+ join your Church whenever they need help
+ if your church has it go the Life Teen ( Saint Maria Goretti )
+ be a teacher there
+ ohh and go mass every Sunday
+ if you miss mass do it at home

Night

+ read the bible
+ use the rosary
+ be in a room by yourself

Day

+ try not to use bad words
+ forgive your friends
+ be nice and generous

Church

+ donate the stuff that you don't use
+ help the poor
+ give some money away

Food

+ eat all your food
+ if you don't finish it don't throw it away
+ you can give leftovers to your pet if you have one

P:S You should feel guilty if you throw your food away . Think about the poor who don't have anything to eat .

Well that is it . Good luck !

Everyone has their own opinion about praying.
I say the Hail Mary and Our Father. If it is repetition just keep in mind the beautiful words you are repeating.
I love to pray to God in my own words. Also there are so many prayers that are written that you could read. I have read some beautiful prayers which leads you to talk and pray to God even more. Prayer is so important in our lives Sometimes we think that God does not answer us but God does. We have to remember that God is in control of what we ask.

Repeated prayer is a chant. It may be an affirmation of what you believe, what you want or ritual taught by others. At any rate, prayer is the transfer and directing of energy for a specific purpose. If you feel the need to repeat a prayer over do so, this is your personal relationship with your higher being, not the collective relationship. If you just want to converse with Him that is prayer too. It is your relationship and no one should be advising you one way or another on how to commune with your god.

Jesus didn't want people to pray in vain repetitions. I do pray some things everyday, but I do just talk to Him, too (and listen). He says we have not because we ask not. So this would cause us to change our prayers daily. The Lords prayer was given as an example of how we can pray.

I do both. I say prayers and novenas, and then I sit and talk to God before closing out with a prayer. I pray the rosary (which is repetitive) but I concentrate on what the prayers mean. Praying is private and personal for each person. Do what feels right. If you need to talk and not say a recited prayer, talk.

Ok, now if you think about it, and you have true undying faith in God and His supremacy~ then He knows not only every hair on you head, but all the thoughts therein. Personally, I talk to Him all day, I say "Good morning God" Talk to Him in all li'l things through out my day. And say " Good night God", My prayers probably are more like conversations, but I pray before I eat (silently to myself) to say thank you. Or when I am out enjoying my life (at a party or dancing or 6 flags etc) I find myself saying thank you. "Thank you for giving me the chance to experience life, my own life." It sounds like you are totally a true follower too, no worries, He knows your intentions, you are not wrong. Just talk to Him like He is your best friend in this huge world, cuz noone loves you as much!

it doesn't matter how you pray. If you feel comfortable with the repetition of prayers then go for it. If that brings you closer to God, then it's working. Noone should criticize your method of prayer, it's personal. Both ways work for different people. I do better talking to God, but sometimes saying the Lord's prayer, or other prayers is comforting as well. It's up to you.

Different religions believe different things. Pray the way you believe you should pray and what feels good to you at your own personal level. All prayers are heard.

We are not supposed to use "vain repetitions", and that would include those prayers that you mentioned above.
You can say prayers by praying to Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ's name.
That's more real, proper, sincere and will actually get you more answers.
