if its (my own version of) fish birhyani or chicken dansak...but i tell you what, i thought my alcholic aunt was pretty awfully useless until one day she cooked up a fish birhyani, i looked at her thru different eyes... then i discovered chicken dansak, still doesnt beat my aunt's birhyani, or my own version thereof (which i use balsamic vinegar in...hmm, yummy) but i must say, one day i was flying cheap (qatar airlines) on a visit to za, and the fish birhyani they served up was absolutely divine...it was topped with roasted cashew nuts strewn on top...the nicest thing about that flight...whats your fave curry? my sister officially thinks i'm addicted to curry, cause when i dont have curry i start to wurry...isnt this normal?

i must say, if curry was banned, i'd attempt to OD on a platter of a cocktail of curries, and sign my WILL in turmeric... do you think they will get the message?

Your question really got me thinking!! Before moving to Birmingham 6 years ago I'd never had a REALLY good curry, I'm certainly making up for it now!! Still, no matter how many curries I try nothing beats my husband's minted lamb curry. Don't think its too traditional but as it always reminds me of Moroccan food but it certainly hits the spot. Fruity but robust with just enough fire to warm you up. I believe a good curry is a bit like a good wine, it needs to suit the occasion, after a long day a work I want something creamy and comforting but before a night on the town something like a Jalfrezy seems more suitable. I believe there is a curry for every occasion and every taste, I'm hoping my husband might concoct a turkey curry for Christmas this year, with cranberry chutney! What do you think?!!

It has to be whatever curry you would order tonight if you were to go out to a curry house for a meal!

Personally I am nearly always a Chicken dansac person...not too hot but you know that you have eaten a curry at the end of the meal. To think that a Chicken Tikka Messala is the most popular curry in this country makes me cringe......it is hardly a curry and there is more bite to a mild chille con carne! Oh well at least it wasn't Chicken Korma I suppose....

My favourite has changed over time... as my taste buds have got used to more spices lol.
I started off liking Tandoori chicken when i was about 8.
Then my next fave was Lamb Rogan Josh - not too hot but really tomatoey and tangy...
Then it swung between that and Garlic Chilli Chicken....
Just recently...ie last year or so, I've discovered a 'PATHIA' dish... it is TOTALLY gorgeous. I get the Lamb version, not tried the others... but it is a combo of tomatoes, spices, lemon, ginger.... all combined - I know a few sauces have all this, but PATHIA tastes totally different to any other sauce I've tasted!
If you like tangy/spicy dishes you've GOT TO try this one out for size... it is awesome. :)

My fave curry is chicken jalfrezi! It's not as hot as a vindaloo but hotter than a tikka masala. If you want to feel you've had a curry, I'd say, "you may go far and fare worse!" Stop wurrying about it, just try it once and you'll be hooked.

I'm currently a Jalfrezi freak having recently moved on from Dhansak. However, now and again nothing beats a Madras!

I totally agree, chicken dansak is the best curry in the whole world. Its imperative that I have it at least twice a week, or I get withdrawal symptoms, mind you that might just be the DTs from the alcohol the night before
