Texas sucks!!

It depends on what you like.

Personally, I think Houston is a dump. It is the largest city in Texas. It's very hot and humid from all the pollution.

I moved to Austin 3 months ago and it is brilliant. I live just north of Austin in Round Rock (the 6th safest city in the whole US) and I love it. Austin is really cool with lots of live music and nice places to eat and drink.

I have been to Dallas just once, so don't really have any opinion of it. I have friends who live there and they told me that if they could live anywhere, it would be Austin.

Not been to San Antonio, but that's less than 2 hours from Austin.

Best to check the web as there are tons of resources about cities. They can tell you things like average house price, average wage, temperatures through the year, rainfall, etc etc etc.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Well, it depends on what you're looking for. Houston - it has a bit of a problem right now - it's called high racism in the wake of hurricane Katrina. If you want to get shot, robbed, stabbed, or beat up - Houston is the place for you!

San Antonio - nice town, lots of history - but it seems to me like there is a "job shortage" down there. I think it would be difficult to get a job there. That's just a matter of opinion. I've been, I love San Antonio - but it just doesn't give me a "feel good" feeling about living there.

Dallas/Fort Worth - this is where I live. I live in a little town North of Fort Worth called Watauga. I love it there. Small town feel, everything is within your reach. I work in Plano, which is North of Dallas, so I guess you might say I'm all over the "metroplex", as we like to call it.

There are plenty of jobs, the roads aren't too bad (under construction a lot toward Dallas), and there is always something to do. Living is easy, cheap, and everything is pretty close.

So, if I had to choose between one of these cities, knowing what I know - it would be Dallas (though, for expense and getting around purposes, you may wish to choose something in Arlington, or the mid-cities (Hurst, Euless, Bedford), or Grapevine - or my favorite - Keller.

Again, Good luck!

I've never been to Texas, but when moving to another state, it's so important to do your research first. Check the state's Census statistics. You get get information on population, ethnic, social and ecomomic demographics, schools (if applicable), growing areas, poverty-stricken areas, wealthy areas, etc. This is especially helpful if you have children (or plan to) or if you are young and will be living on your own. Also, read their local online newspapers so you can see what areas have regular crime reports. Visit the local police websites for information on robberies, burglaries, etc. I hope you find enough to make the right decision.

Good luck!

What are you into? so how can you know what is right?

Why don't you try living in each city for say 6 months to experience life in each so you know which one , if any that you like.

PS you might want to find a job there, so check out

Why would you want to move to Texas if you do not have a job and a certain place to go? People usually follow the job location.

I think the gay community is in Austin, you might want to look there first.
