I met my girlfriend of a year now on the Internet, we were Lucky that we lived close enough that we could meet after the first few weeks of talking. I don't think they last if one of you is not able to make serious life changes to move closer to the other person, or if the distance makes it impossible to ever meet up.
I think the net is a great place to meet people though as long as you are very careful.

Yes! 3 years ago i actually met my current boyfriend on an online game.. (completely weird for me.. lol.) Anyways, he lived in florida and we started dating in December of '04. Every other month we'd go to visit eachother (mind you i'm only 17 atm, he's 18). My parents actually flew me there a few times after he came down and met my family. After about a year of doing that, he decided to move here to where i live (texas) and Start a life. He moved from his family and everyone he knew and loved. He now lives next door to me in his own home with a pretty cushy job and we've been dating for 2 years.
I'd say thats successful =)

-Please dont ridicule my relationship because of my age, I've already heard it all from all of my friends and family, Mind you their perspective changed after meeting him.

Yeppers...my boyfriend and I met on the internet back in May of '05 and started talking on the phone everyday. He lived in Kentucky and I live in Texas. He came down and visited me in July for a weekend and then went home. He decided that he really loved me and wanted to move down here. So I flew up there one way, and helped him pack all of his stuff into a moving truck and we drove 1300 miles to Texas and now we live together and plan on getting married in a year or so. So yeah, it can happen. :)

One of my colleagues from work is marrying the man she met on the internet in three weeks time! He's tall, handsome and loaded, lucky girl. Keep looking as she is proof that there is hope. May I also recommend introductions by friends. My friend introduced me to my partner and we are currently house hunting together. Good luck :-)

OK so maybe it's not quite what you had in mind, but I had a long relationship with a women I met in a chatroom. We never met - and it was technically cheating because I'm married (she's divorced) - but we did have cyber and phone sex quite often and I know if circumstances had been different, we would have met for "real" sex too ... she seems to have moved on now sadly so I'm back looking again ;-)
