I have two pieces of black cloth which appear identical to the naked eye. When viewed with my cacorder's night vision, one piece is white(very light green) the other black. I am doing a university project on light spectrum/frequency/invisibility and realise that black absorbs heat/light more than white but cant get why 2 pieces of black cloth would appear so different.

As many have already said, it's due to the IR effect. Here's an article on how night vision goggles work - it's basically the same principle.

Black And White Night Vision

Because even at night, black objects absorb more heat than white objects. The heat is radiating off of the object and the night vision devices can detect infrared radiation. Since the black object is radiating more heat it shows up more intensely than a white object. Remember, night vision does not detect colors, only low levels of light being reflected and infrared radiation.

Depends on the night vision. You may be seeing residual heat stored in the black body radiating out as night comes and things cool down. What type of night vision are you using?

because night vision shows up the objects by the amount of heat they give of ....any black object in the sun will absorb a larger amount of heat than a lighter object ...therefore they are often warmer when viewed in infra red

Night vision equipment uses infra-red, therefore the colour of the object is immaterial it is the heat emitted by the object that you can 'see'. The more heat emitted the brighter (or whiter) it will be.

for me it depends in the girl. Like I might observe a girl with black hair and think she is totally hot yet see a girl with blond tresses that is meh and vice versa.
