The media claims its possible that Iraqi Police were victims of a purposeful food poisoning incident.

Can or will iraqi forces be able to keep thier ranks secure from infiltration and threats to security?

If they cant trust the food supply... what measures would it take to make them safe from such attacks on thier health and also from corrupt personnel?

There were MANY good answers to this question! :)

I think that sometimes religion and or other loyalies can be so important to people and such a basic part of the their everyday lives and cultures that they speak and react blindly. It can be almost as if a virus has co-opted their thoughts and actions. The prime directive may always lurk right beneath the surface. Leaving them feeling that there is no choice but to react as they have been told to in given situations or risk being damned or deemed a traitor.

i beleive much of the problem is cultural and psychological. When you disagree with a persons faith... you may be insulting them on the highest level or worse yet violating thier codes and offending thier god (or whathaveyou).

Not only is the unrest caused by religious differences... there are hundreds if not thousands of years worth of trangressions against each other built up and probably not entirely forgotten, not to mention voilence experienced in their lifetimes.

It's not simply corruption; iraqis are loyal to their local tribal base, so the idea was doomed from the start.

It takes an extremely strong leader to maintain order in a fragmented society,
Lacking that strong leadership, it is more than just likely that we will see three smaller nations there. That will p1** Turkey off so then there will be a new war in the north.
The sunni and shiites will still battle over the oil suply in the south. Iran of course will take sides.

Until Iraqis establish their own government without outside interference, the police & military are useless.

The only available solution is for all foreign forces to withdraw and let the blood bath begin so Iraqis can choose their own dictators.

Overthrowing Saddam Hussein has to be one of the worst ideas of the last 100 years.

This is sectarian warfare and as long as one group wants to impose their will and ideas on others, there can be no peace. Corruption is a fact of life in many parts of the world and it won't end until people accept personal responsibility for their actions and consequences.
