A family should be a safe, secure place where you know you will always be loved and accepted no matter what. A family should always be there for each other and have unconditional love for each other. A family should try to come together to help each other through tough times and celebrate the good times together. It should feel like a hug.

well i`m disillusioned as to wot families are supposed to do for each other. my mum died nearly 2 years ago and no one helped and i now look after my dad who has advanced alzheimers and they still don`t help. i thought it was all about unconditional love and being there for each other but it seems i`ve been very wrong. i hope no one elses family are like mine

do you mean - what are families meant to do for each other? If so they are supposed to support and love each other as much as possible....

be there for each other within boundaries. Not do everything for each other, or be in each others business. Listen, give advice when asked, give support within reason and never take advantage of each other.

familys are here to support, and love and help, and try to help, help you out of a tight spot. and just ultimeatly love you, but there are some families out there that just plain suck.and they dont do their jobs as a loving family
