you know that if you drink caffeine it keeps you awake decaff is far better for you and it taste just as good

If I drink coffee I still get the affects 8 hours later. I rarely drink caffeine, so I think my body reacts to it. I once had a cup of coffee at 8pm and was still awake at 3 in the morning, so gave up coffee in the evening years ago!

For most people, anywhere from 1-3 hours, with peak effect within 10-15 minutes of drinking.
Some people will have trouble sleeping, though, even 5-6 hours after drinking coffee/ colas.
