Film is better. Digital cameras have problem with "noise," color fringing, and the sensor gets dirty. You can have a 20 mp digital, but you can't count the mp on film. Digital might be more convenient and people have told me it is cheaper, but I can't see how. Conventional SLRs are less expensive than digital camera of anything near the same quality, Figure out the cost of printing pictures on your printer VS the cost of having a 24 exposure roll developed and printed at Walmart in an hour.

Cheap and good don't go together on digital cameras. Anything under $50 will probably only take pictures that can be displayed on a web site but give poor prints. I have seen some very good digital cameras at Costco for about $150 but expect to pay $250 and up for a high quality camera.

Problem is they keep selling photo printers. They photo paper won't last you forever (it's even been admitted by HP, Kodak, etc) and will last like 15 years maximum. So now everyone is in the craze of getting digital just for that option. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. But people are forcing the craze into digital that things come to an end. Example is that last year, because of the digital craze, Kodak no longer sells black and white paper for prints. You'll never be able to get a true black and white picture like it should be from them. Now it has to be from Fuji or another company.

Right!
Film is still the standard to which digitial images are compared.
Especially, when the lens must be opened for long periods of time (night pics) and when the ISO needs to be very high, 800+
