I am surprised at the answers which state that God did not create disease. If not God, then who?

Rather than make a guess, it is best to consult the Bible for such information.

Isa 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these [things].

God created everything even the devil. But why? Why do animals eat each other to survive? Why are there volcanos, earthquakes, floods? Why are there parasites, bacteria and viruses? Well, why are there mosquitos? I really do not have that answer, but I do believe that God created them all for a purpose and that he has planned it for good.

Maybe the answer lies in the purpose of life is to struggle and overcome adversity, challenges, handicaps, limitations and obstacles. That painful process makes a person stronger. Also, for all the problems, God has given us the tools to overcome them. We just have to learn to use those tools.

Flu shots? Well, I always get one. One year I had flu and I swore that would be the last time. Yah, vaccines should be made with 2006 technology instead of the 1940's method of growing in eggs and deactivating with thimerosol which contains mercury, but that is cost effective. I do not worry about the thimerosol.

Do I trust God to keep me alive? Yah. I was stung by a bee and ended up with anaphylactic shock in intensive care after the full ACLS protocol so I know how fragile life is. I could have easily died then or being a premature baby I could have died then. Dying is not my worse fear. It is being sick or having an insidious disease like MS.

I pray for God's will to be done. I trust that His plan is perfect. He allowed people to discover vaccine technology, so I will take advantage of it. If bubonic plague becomes an issue, I will get the Yersinia pestis vaccine too, if one is ever developed.

I'm not a Christian and flu shots don't do squat to prevent me from getting anything. In fact, if I get a shot, I'm guaranteed to have the flu that year, even though nearly everyone says that is virtually impossible.

The God of the Old Testament is jealous and sadistic compared to the loving God of the New Testament. It's like they're two completely different beings. And diseases were around after the fall in the Garden of Eden, so it could be argued that anyone from God to Satan to Eve created them due to the sin in the world. Or the natural course of life that not everything is going to be perfect each time.

This shows a lack of conventional logic. Why would Christians not get a flu shot?
-it is a choice of personal taste. Some don't get them because they wind up with the flu afterwards. Some dont get them because they contain eggs etc.
A shot contains a portion of an attenuated virus. God didn't create these diseases.

I'm not a Christian.

I've never had a flu shot.

I haven't been sick in about eleven years now. Don't see much point in preventing something that I can be directly exposed to (and I have) and won't catch.

We brought disease into the world.
Why do Christians get flu-shots? So they don't get the flu, of course!

I don't understand why you seem to think only Christians get a flu shot. We all know what they contain. The virus developed over the years,God did'nt create it

everything in this universe has a purpose..... if you destroy a species of animals..... or their numbers deplete.... in that case.... the viruses they were immune to.... had to find new hosts..... thats how diseases spread...... we are faced with more diseases today compared to centuries back...... its not that we have discovered diseases which were always there.... they are new diseases ..... which have infected humans because of the damage to the enviorenment........ and eco systems......

God did, for some reason. Remember, though, that in the Old Testament, God is very sadistic, so who knows what he was thinking back then.
