Considering that Migraine Syndrome is an acute/chronic condition, with the inflammatory process only being reduced during those times of remission, perhaps it is time to determine what area is inflamed and treat it..Your presenting symptoms indicate the various cranial nerves that are involved..but you didn't include all the symptoms you experience.
If all possible causes have been ruled out eg; brain tumor, etc. it leaves only the inflammatory process to be the primary effect. But not the cause. The cause being nerve involvement by being compressed or irritated by some compression factor.
Correction of that initiating factor is quite frequently take care of under chiropractic care.. but must be accomplished in the quiescent state... not when active. Treat it before it becomes active .. not during.

I know what you mean about migraines. I like to put Vicks on my forehead and an icepack on my head. I sometimes put my hands in warm water since my hands get so icy cold when I get a migraine. I drink a Pepsi or Coke and then take Tylenol. I try to relax the best I can (which is so hard). After a while, I eat popcorn. I don't know why, but the crunchiness of it, and maybe the salt, seem to help the nausea. I have tried so many different things for migraines. There was a aromatherapy headache creme that Bath and Body Works made that helped a lot. They don't make it anymore, but it had lavendar, peppermint and chamomile, so if you can find something like that, it helps!

I also have suffered from migraines since I was a young teen. I took all the over the counter medications with no relief. It's no wonder that I now have Acid Reflux. Anyway I finally saw a doctor but I was already in my 40's. Yes I am on prescription medication and it's a blessing. I don't have to miss parties, etc. There isn't a natural remedy. Go to your doctor, you won't be sorry.

I have tried everything going for the past three decades, conventional medicine and alternative. The best was Cafergot (stops it almost immediately but leaves you feeling tired out). I've found that since I've been drinking more water, exercising more (not overexercising because that causes migraine too!) and avoiding the classic migraine triggers, I've reduced them by at least 50%. I didn't find much help from aromatherapy or massage, hydrotherapy or homeopathy.

I always use some form of caffeine for mine's. Usually it works. Also try getting more rest before the migraines even start. Meditate and listen to peaceful music whenever possible. Aromatherapy works well too in unison with one of the above mentioned. Good luck.

My mother has recently been experiencing a lot of migraines and was advised to try acupuncture as she was also concerned at the amount of painkillers she was taking and how theywere wiping her out. She says the acupuncture has really helped. I haven't tried it myself but apparently it doesn't hurt!

I've been looking for one too. So far the only thing for me that has worked is something called Passion Flower. It doesn't take it completly away. They have it in tea and herb form. So if you have it in both way I would think it would help fairly quickly.

i never take painkillers for anything, cause i hardly get headaches, let alone migraines, but i daresay i've had one of them on the odd occasion, usually under immense stress.
you can take a quick fix such a painkiller but you can take a longer route which generally has longterm enduring benefits...such as finding out the cause of the migraines. are they stress related? cause if yes, deal with your stress, go swimming, its said to be relaxing, listen to those calming cd collections they sell at tesco's (for a steal usually) and make time to UNWIND. now, we're not talking bottom winds here, we're talking de-stress, its not a luxury, its a necessity. there's only so much stress the body can deal with, and keeping it all inside you and carrying it around with you usually end up with all sorts of negative results, in your case, a migraine. My cousin who has endless migraines have kids, lots of family problems (her mum is a nightmarish toddler in an adult body) so she even has her own mum to bring up, apart from her own kids. Sometimes you need some outlet, counselling? or something to help you to express or let go of your ongoing frustrations, otherwise, if you dont get rid of it, it will get rid of you... what works for me when i get a headache (and i trained myself like this since childhood cause my dad was reliant on medication for health reasons and always raised us to avoid the stuff if necessary) i go and sleep it off, close the room door, turn off any noise, close the curtains and just lie down and forget about everything. this isnt always possible with the demands of everyday life, so, alternatively, a quick massage (get a book on massage from the library) and if you dont have a partner or friend to massage your neck and head and even shoulders / feet etc, there are ways and means to self-massage, its the best cause -you- know the areas that feel better as you knead and stimulate the flesh as required. aromatherapy (lavendar drops on your pillow or chamomile for insomnia) or even a few in your bath water (alternating between bath and shower is useful because a bath is relaxing to the point where you can literally feel the tiredness seep out of your body once you climb into a warm, hot relaxing bath, whats more, you dont need to get seperate bath oils if you use bubble bath that contain those oils i mentioned above). Sleeping and sleeping properly each night is vital, the body needs routine, if you body doesnt get treated gently it'll let you know!!!
Another thing is diet, canned foods contain so much unnatural things that it surely cant be good for you. we expect our bodies to regenerate cells which are worn out and tired (cells die and are regenerated regularly but they need our help to function properly). Vitamins, water, fresh foods, these are vital, i can't stress the water factor enough. It is a refreshing drink in all senses of the word, it keeps the skin and body fresh, helps circulation, flushes the system of impurities, and so on, again, another necessity, not a luxury.
I've used these above methods when i was teaching full time, without it i think i would have collapsed into a nervous mess and curled up and died...

I recently studied that lack of magneisium might be one of the cause of migrane. Try to discuss with your doctor and start using any prescribed multivitamin.
Some times VICKs tablet reslut in my case.
