Yes. I am experiencing it for about a year ( my daughter is 15 months old). I had been examined and they told me the hormonal imbalance is the cause. they can treat the imbalance but it will stop my milk. I choose to live with the imbalance for the sake of my daughter.
But if you are worried, you can go to your obgyn and let him examine you. if the cause is the same as mine, you can always choose - continue breastfeeding but experience the imbalance or have regular periods but not breastfeed your child. It's fully up to you.

Yep, it's normal.
I breastfed my son for 14 months. I didn't have a period for about 7 months, and then it got weird there for a bit until my body regulated it's self again. But, don't forget how easy it is to still get pregnant, so if it is a possib ility (ie, had sex w/ no protection) you could be pregnant again. Good luck though!

How much (or how little) your child nurses each month can change the length of your period. If your child nurses a lot more one month (illness, teething growth spurt) then your cycle is likely to be longer. If your child nurses less in a month, your cycle is likely to be shorter. It always took me a few months to fall into a pattern again after my cycles returned.

Yes it is normal, my best friend had her period twice the entire time she was breast feeding. Her doc. told her should not have one when breast feeding and she thought something was wrong when she had it. But it is normal.
