My Boston Terrier is 2 years old and was the runt of the litter and bottle fed. She now has a terrible habit of licking everything; car windows, furniture, your face, blankets, other dogs, you name it. It is constant and driving us crazy, even though she is very sweet. We've tried chewies and toys, nothing works. Any ideas?

paying for stuff is unecessary.

I used a chilli pepper with the very top cut off with my rottweiler and it stopped her very quickly.

Make sure also that if you catch her licking or chewing, to tap her gently on the nose with your finger.

Firstly someone has suggested to spray your furniture DONT sprays can be toxic for dogs even the ones that are on the market that "prevent" dogs from doin certain things do not use them. You need to train your dog. IF he/she is licking the furniture and you are saying NO in a firm tone and you say it a few times and it dont work, pick up your dog place him/her outside for 30 seconds bring back in and keep sayin NO when they start to do it again. Eacg=h time increase the time i.e 30secs...40... it will be annoying but eventually your dog will learn that if they lick your furniture they will be put outside! Best of luck but it could take some time if its a habit!

There is this spray you can purchase at pet stores im not sure what its called but it comes in sour or bitter flavors that are not very palatable for pets. this might be your best option. I dont think licking is much of a problem, he just likes to lick. I would be more concerned i he had a chewing problem

A product called "Bitter Apple" tends to work for most dogs. However, if your dog is a chronic licker, like mine, then he'll lick the bitter apple as well...which smells a lot like rubbing alcohol.

Try applying something bitter but edible on some of his favourite licking objects.

Buy some "Bitter Apple" spray at any pet store. It tastes awful and they will leave it alone. That is what I use for my cats\houselhold plants.
