I don't think people understand the question's underlying aspects. Perhaps if you added the additional details:

A majority of providers of medicine and other clinical care in Africa are Catholic Missionaries. If the Pope says no to condoms then the people of Africa get no condoms. As Africa is the country with the highest HIV infection rate, they would need condoms to prevent infection because, lets face it, the missionaries may believe in abstinence but the locals sure as hell don't and regardless of their beliefs, they should not be condemned by a religion that ultimately governs their fate.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
3. Married couples should welcome God's gift of children and, therefore, artificial birth control was against the will of God.

If the world is going to ignore teachings about chastity (1 & 2), then why is the world so upset about teaching artificial birth control (3)?

People who are already ignoring the more important teachings about chastity (1 and 2) should have no problem ignoring the less important teaching of artificial birth control (3).

Even if an infected person was to use a condom to help protect his or her spouse, condoms are not 100% effective (read the box) and the spouse may be infected and die anyway. A person who truly loves their spouse would not endanger them in this way.

With love in Christ.

The Catholic Church champions chastity and natural family planning. If more people actually took the Catholic Church's teaching to heart, instead of attempting to conceal weak moral fiber behind the shroud of "modern times", there would be far fewer unborn human beings being murdered.

The Church does NOT need to change. People do.

no one has died becuas the Rcc disapproved os the use of condems. the Rcc is against premarital sex and also believes that marriage is for the procreation of life. if someone is a Catholic then they would not have need of a condem.
If someone would like to consider themselves a practicing Catholic, they have no need of a condem. To the non Catholics - why would they care? Also, if someone who claims to be Catholic doesn't like the rules, there is always protestant, epsicopal, methodist, etc.
all Christians should read 2 Cor 6:12-20 maybe they too would understand where in the scriptures the Rcc gets a part of it's stand on the matter of premarital sex.

BTW - the Chruch is not to "change with the times" Scripture is Word without End - the people are to conform to the teachings of God's Bible.

And all of this based on one verse in the bible about God wanting a man to sleep with his dead brothers wife, so the bloodline would continue and he pulled out. Since he pulled out, he was punished. And they think this means no contraception... but it doesn't. Taking it in a literal sense (as they are trying to do) he was punished for not giving the woman a child to further the bloodline... not because he pulled out. *sigh* If the man had never had sex with the woman, he would have been punished.

It's like they only read part of it, one or two verses and then come up with these conclusions and make laws according to it. The whole time telling others to read the Bible. I'm not sure why people listen to the "Church" about such things and justify it.

I wasn't even aware that they still condemned the use of condoms. That's interesting. I suppose they may never do so. Trying to see it through a devout Catholic's eyes, you would not need a condom if you weren't having sex when you were supposed to. And if you are married then i suppose there is no reason for you not to want kids.
Is this their reasoning?

How many more will die before they realize that condoms fail between 40 and 60 percent of the time, especially when exposed to heat and wide temperature variations during shipment and storage, and that many of those who manufacture condoms practice extremely poor quality control?

The Catholic Church, like Islam, is a breeder religion. They are actively trying to out-breed everyone else to increase their influence. That is why they insist on no sex before marriage and no birth control ever. The message is, marry young and have the maximum number of children you can have. We can only be thankful that they have opted to force the most deluded among them to not breed.

You shouldnt have sex unless you are married. Also if you care about what the catholic church says about condoms you should also care when they and the bible say that abortion is wrong too.

I'll say about 3 popes with the excuse of the holy spirit revealing itself saying that condoms are okay.
