The closest airport would be Köln/Bonn (Cologne) and the bigger airport at Düsseldorf is nearly as close.
Also the small airport in Dortmund is not far.
Frankfurt airport is 150 km away but is connected via a high-speed train, which brings you in about 90 minutes to Leverkusen but that train is very pricey.
When checking low-cost carriers especially Ryanair for flights to Frankfurt and Düsseldorf, make sure you're really flying into FRA or DUS as they name some small airports in the middle of nowhere Frankfurt-Hahn or Düsseldorf-Niederrhein to suggest they might be close to these cities which they are not.

Frankfurt?? Nonsense. Köln/Bonn (Clologne) - it's an option. The biggest airport close to Leverkusen is Düsseldorf, easily to reach and very international. Cologne is a small one with less international flights, also parking is very difficult there.
Greetings from Düsseldorf, Germany :-)
