This all depends on your circumstances. I am assuming from your question that you haven't kept a dog before. Please resist the temptation to go for an exotic breed just because you like their looks, remember, the popular breeds are popular for a good reason! You might want to consider contacting your local training class and asking if you can come along to meet some of the dogs before making a decision. When you do choose a puppy, please be careful. Remember that you will have this animal for 10 - 15 years, and a bad choice will cause no end of heartbreak. All the advice that is given about choosing a puppy is the best advice that you will ever take. Good luck and I hope you find your ideal pet!

Hey,
Before getting a dog you need to know why u want a dog? will u be able to look after it for the rest of his life. So many dogs get abandoned every single day coz of implulsive decesions made by their owners. I suggest you read up online and otherwise and gather info abt all the responsibilities you will have once you are a dog owner..
And... instead of going in for a breed, why don't you adopt a pariah from an animal welfare org. They are the best pets u can have. They adjust well to a loving home are not fussy about food and are very low maintainance dogs..Great watch dogs too..
U can visit my website www.perfectpooch.co.in for more articles about dogs..

A Labrador proves to be best pet . The Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. Some may be reserved with strangers unless very well socialized as puppies. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They can become destructive if left too much to their own devices. Train Labradors early not to pull on the leash, as they have very strong necks. Show lines are generally heavier and easier going than field lines. Field lines tend to be very energetic and high strung. Often the best pets are from combination show/field stock. This breed is very popular. If you are planning to show, buy only from a reputable breeder. Labs are a bit more dominant and independent than the Golden Retriever. Some of their talents include: hunting, tracking, retrieving, watchdogging, police work, narcotics detection, guide for the blind, service dog for the disabled, search and rescue, sledding, carting, agility, and competitive obedience. Labs bred from English lines (English Labs) are more calm and laid back than Labradors bred from American lines. English Labs mature quicker than the American type.

If you are looking for a friendly pet then these are the breeds to look outfor :

Labradors, Retrievers, Pointers, Cocker Spaniel, saint bernard, pugs, great danes to a certain extent.

Terror dogs :

German Sheppard, Alsatians, Boxers, Terriers, etc...

Small dogs : would be good pets but can be really noisy and very difficult to train.

I like Labs as one of my favorites. It depends though if you prefer small dogs versus large dogs. Is this dog going to be around kids? Is this dog going to be an indoor dog? Do you want a dog with high energy? There are so many options according to what you are looking for in a dog. I love German Shepherds too. I like them because they are good watch dogs and are loyal animals. Labs love water and love to be with people and are good with kids. There are so many that are good with kids. A smaller dog, which a lot of people prefer, vary also. A Beagle tends to run away an instant and can get through the tiniest hole in a fence. I hope you find the size and best animal that is right for you and your family.

If u want a dog that is a good all around pet and a good guard dog, get a cocker spaniel. They are easy to train, gentle with other people, love kids, and are all around good dogs. We have had 3 cockers in the last 25 years. Everyone has been gentle and loving. I would recommend a cocker to anyone who wants a dog to love them back.

That depends on what your living circumstances are. If you live in high rise, it obviously won't be ideal having something like a Great Dane or a Greyhound.
I'm quite partial to Basset Hounds, Great Danes, and Dachshunds. I'm fortunate though because we have a large property for all our dogs and we can accommodate for all their needs.

i think of it may well be a stable theory in case you considered some distinctive style of breeds you have an activity in your self and not what others think of you could have. Do the analyze on the breed and notice in the event that they'd fit into your way of existence. I enjoyed a pair distinctive breeds and that i researched them heavily and made a determination that the american bulldog would be superb for my family members and our way of existence! however the AB became a canine i got fascinated in no longer one somebody online informed me to get. inspect the great breeds or medium or despite length your finding for and write down which ones you think of you want then analyze them. no longer being impolite in basic terms truthful. sturdy luck looking your canine

I have a chow chow, it's a very peaceful quiet dog. only barking when strangers come to the house. The dogs are aloof and don't show much affection, no need to toilet train as they already know to do it outside. Needs a good brush at least once a week. very easy to look after
