I tried to paint a steel rod last weekend. I left the steel rod on top of few newspapers.

Now the same problem, newspaper is sticking on the steel rod. I couldn’t peel it off very easily.

Are there any ways I can use it to take of these sticking newspapers?

No, the paint surface will be damaged anyway, so you'll have to repaint

Perhaps rub then off with sandpaper once the point is solid.

Them maybe hold the metal rod between 2 nails through bits of wood, clamped to a bench. Then you can paint all the rod in one go and just be left with 2 pin prick holes at the ends to fill with paint at a later date.

Try soaking it in water for a while to soften the paint. If it still won't come off them try some white spirit .Be cautious that you don't wipe off the paint.... if you do then re paint the rod and try to dry it upright by leaning the top tip against a wall.
