All is well! its very normal. it means the baby is on its way! I have had blood in my waters with both of my labours. I asked my midwife when it first happend and she told me it means i am near to giving birth. Dont worry!

To be honest, I'm not sure if this is the type of question you should be asking 'just anyone'. I agree if it was bad news you would have heard. I am a student midwife and a mother of three so am well aware of most of the reasons for bleeding and it could be one of so many. I agree you should stay positive and look after the little one as best you can, your sister in law will need your support whatever happens. Chin up. I hope it all goes ok x

Labour can take hours - even after water breaking, right now she has entrusted you to look after her first born. Try hard to concentrate on giving her as much attention as you can, once hte baby is here the first born will take time to adjust to the new arrival. If she/he picks up on your stress about your sister in law, she will be panicked. Your sister in law has gone off to hospital she is in the right place for any treatment she may or may not need. As soon as there is news you will be contacted. Before you know it you will be visiting the new baby and loving the cuddles and your sister in law will be looking forward to coming home and settling back into a new routine - you will wonder what you were worried about!

Congratulations!!! Let us know...

It's more than likely fine. I'm sure you'd have heard by now if there was anything serious wrong.
Remember no two pregnancies are the same, and no two deliveries. There are a million possible tiny complications which scare the living daylights out of the expectant parents and their families, but the doctors and midwives deal with them every day and they turn out to be nothing.

I hope everything turns out fine. I'm sure it will !

when i went into labour on my son my waters broke at home and there was quite a large bleed,i went into a blind panick, but when i got to the hospital and was examined it was a blood vessel at the neck of the cervix that had burst, caused by the force of the waters breaking,so i wouldnt worry it could possibly be that and the labour will be fine mine was and so was the baby 3hrs later and no more bleeding hope shes ok

Don't leave it to chance, she should go straight to the hospital. there might not be anything wrong, but don't risk it. i never lost any blood during labour. Hope you have a healthy new addition soon! :)
