I'm planning to go to Hawaii I'm not sure when to go. If I go in December, I would go to Oahu because it's cheaper than Maui but also nice. If I go in January, I'd go to Maui because the voucher I have for the hotel is only valid at Maui.

I did some research online and the price to go to Oahu in December plus 3 nights hotel is almost the same (sometimes cheaper) if I go to Maui in January and with only 2 nights hotel.

I'd go with December in Oahu over Maui in January just because you can afford a longer stay with that option. Three or four days in Hawaii is not a long time, so I would go with the option that lets you maximize the amount of time you have to see the islands. The weather in December versus January isn't that different, so the two main factors I think are important to consider are: 1) time, as I mentioned previously, and 2) your preferences as to what type of vacation you're looking for.

If you want more night life/city life and shopping, Oahu is the way to go. The flea market, Waikiki, the Polynesian Cultural Center, Pearl Harbor, Iolani Palace, and Bishop Museum are all great attractions to visit and get some shopping done. Maui is more country, and has great hiking trails and outdoor activities. You can find beautiful beaches on both islands (though Maui is less crowded), go to a luau on either island, and find the aloha spirit alive and well on either island. So, if you prefer really getting back to nature and don't mind a slightly more expensive trip for slightly less time on the islands, choose Maui in January; if you want a good variety and first-time experience of island life and culture with more time to explore, choose Oahu in December.

Have fun!

There is no bad time to go to Hawaii. It is personal preference. Oahu is more touristy and has lots of clubs, things to do, very upbeat. Oahu has nice beaches - Waikiki is not one of them. North Shore has the best - Sunset beach is phenominal - especially at sunset - ergo the name.

Maui is more laid back. You want to just hang at the beach, Maui is for you. There are things to do on Maui, but much more relaxed pace.

The Big Island is remarkable - and usually cheaper than either Maui or Oahu - from volcanoes, to black sand beaches, to sandy white beaches. It has pineapple plantations, coffee plantations, etc. Much more Old Hawaii. Not so much in the way of night clubs, etc., but snorkeling, para-sailing, scuba diving, ocean canoeing, caves - nature at it's best.

Hi Verde, IMO April is the best time to go. It's during "Spring Break" and a lot of the kids leave the island. Since I don't know your age or what your looking for on this trip...I guess I would say December, based on the information I was told when traveling there. Supposedly, October-January the weather conditions are apt to be somewhat un-pleasant IE; storms, high winds etc.? Have a safe trip...regardless! XOXO Moonpie

The longer you wait the extra it incredibly is going to flow up. those are in line with availability. they are working fewer and much less flights to motivate human beings to e book in improve. final min. bargains will quickly be a miles off reminiscence. 0.5 of the explanation the airways are in hassle is via the fact they did no longer comprehend how a lot of human beings might wait. You mentioned the fee went up. i can inform you it has no longer something do with the date of Dec. 1st hitting. it incredibly is all in line with availability.
