I had updated my Windows 98 Version to XP Proffesional Operating System.After this the command promt is not taking 'edit' command .It leaves behind a message that "config.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows application". Also all other programs to be run in DOS Environment r also not running and is leaving the same message. Please suggest a remedy.

Use the service packs. It is a Win XP bug. try also by making the DOS programs compatible under the OS by setting the compatibility modes.
try other external commands: format, etc. I bet they wont work as well.

clean install windows XP
