I don't think he means false idols, because that is addressed. The commandment is not to worship any other gods before Me. Is this an admition that there are other gods?

I think worshiping rocks or wood or any object falls under worshiping false idols. I think Satan is now a god, but rather a fallen son of God. I think saints are not gods, but favoured children.
If the bible is not to be taken out of context... then I believe this could be construed as an admission. Why would He tell us not to worship them before Him if they did not exist. Also, is it ok to worship them as long as we do worship Him first?

When I think of followers worshiping rocks, I think of stone carvings, carved in the image of their god in the form of an idol. (response to question)

You have to know where the Greek word came from, God.
See, God told Moses, "I am that I am"
when he asked what his name was.
People always had idols, and religions, and occults, that is why King David was sent to destroy the philistines, and all the teens,
hessonites,,
wrong gods...
God did not want there ways known to his people,
Well, here we are,,
still the gods are here, people worship them, Buddha, Mohammed,
so on,
but the word god, was formed by man, and in order for man to understand when God came into the pitcher, well, he used our name for our Gods, and said,
you shall have no other gods before me, I am the one true God and besides me there is no other,
then in the new testament, you have all the names of God,
guess what,
,
Rock (1 Corinthians 10:4)
Adam, Second (1 Corinthians 15:45)
Lord of glory (1 Corinthians 2:8)
Our Passover (1 Corinthians 5:7)
Word of Life (1 John 1:1)
Eternal life (1 John 1:2;5:20)
Advocate (1 John 2:1)
True God (1 John 5:20)
Shepherd and Bishop of souls (1 Peter 2:25)
Chief Shepherd (1 Peter 5:4)
Mediator (1 Timothy 2:5)
Ransom (1 Timothy 2:6)
King of Kings (1 Timothy 6:15; Revelations 17:14)
Blessed and only Potentate (1 Timothy 6:15)
Saviour (2 Peter 2:20;3:18)
Lord of all (Acts 10:36)
Prince of life (Acts 3:15)
Just One (Acts 7:52)
First-born of every creature (Colossians 1:15)
Messiah (Daniel 9:25; John 1:41)
Chief Corner-stone (Ephesians 2:20; 1 Peter 2:6)
Head of the Church (Ephesians 5:23; Colossians 1:18)
I AM (Exodus 3:14; John 8:58)
Angel of the Lord (Exodus 3:2; Judges 13:15-18)
Plant of renown (Ezekiel 34:29)
All the names of God…

Some people worship statues, rocks, money, I guess people have worshiped everything at some point in this world. The only one I can see as a living God could be Satan, he is the god of ignorance and probably plays a part in all other things seen as god.

Even centuries before the rise of Islam, God knew that Lucifer will make himself a God and make his own religion and ask people to worship him in the name of Allah.
This is a very cunning way to deceive human kind. If any Arab Christian open their Bible they see Allah instead of God and Muslims claims allah is the same God in the Bible.
Since this has been perceived by the Great Jehovah(I AM THAT I AM) he asked not to worship any other God than Him.

The Hebrews were captive in Egypt and exposed to an other cultures Idolatry practices. The 10 Commandments were given to them to purge those practices from their culture. The commandments act a curb to provide limits and a mirror to reflect God's desire of a sinless life. The Hebrews wandered in the desert for 40 years for a reason. It was to purge their minds of the Egyptians idolatry, and to learn to trust God's promises.

God is a jealous God.
It is a divine jealousy I was once told. Not like human jealousy. But it is real jealousy. God is jealous of our love. Not because God needs our love. God doesn't need it. God doesn't need anything from us. But freely CHOOSING to love God is the only thing you can give God that God does not have -you know, like from omnipotence.
God's jealousy is something like having a child I would say and you are jealous of people teaching your kid to do heavy drugs or something.
Do other Gods exist? In the biblical sense, the view is actually, well... yes. Biblicaly that is something that was very plan to people once. Religion has whitewashed it from scripture into blasphemy I suppose. The point of the admonition in this monotheistic tradition is just that there is one essence to God and God does not want you to go to harm in veneration of things that are... I guess we could say- unredemptive?
Dead-end "Gods"?
The point is God loves you.
So much that you can even use the word "jealousy".

There are those who set themselves up as gods, even the Bible aknowleges this,Pslams 82:1-2 God is stationing himself in the assembly of the Divine One; In the middle of the gods he judges: “How long will YOU keep on judging with injustice And showing partiality to the wicked themselves?"
Also 1Corinthian 8:5-6 For even though there are those who are called “gods,” whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” there is actually to us one God.

God knows that men will create things to worship that are not Him. Anything that is more important to you than Him is a god.

Some people take other humans to be gods.. like the Pharaohs who forced their will on people and made them worship them as Gods. Also, God is not saying there are other gods, just in the people's imagination they are gods, so He is referring to those imagined gods. Also, some people's ego is greater than God in their own eyes, so He is saying to humble one's self and not worship one's desires as a god.

Anything can be considered a "false god", but there were idols that people worshiped. I believe he was talking about that. The gods he is talking about are "false gods" just as He said. He is the one and only God. Your questions is funny, in that you say that God is the only god, and God asks us to not worship other "false gods", Duh.
