Christians can call the days whatever they want. You could make up your own calendar and have the days (and months) named however you like. Wont change things. Just as BC and AD are so ingrained that will most likely never change. I think if you look you will find a lot more things are "traditionally" Christian that are not going to chage soon or drastically either.

Sunday is named after the Sun. Monday is named after the Moon. I don't see a problem with those names. All the other days are named after pagan gods (Tyr, Woden, Thor, Freyr, and Saturn).

If I were Christian and cared about renaming the days, I might (especially if I were fundamentalist) be inclined to name them after the original Genesis week

Say: Lightday, Heavenday, Plantday, Sunday, Fishday, Manday, and Restday.

Christians can rename the days whatever they want. I know at least some denominations number instead of name their days (i.e.: thursday becomes "5th day") because of the pagan origins of the days' names. As long as they don't force the rest of us to use the names, I'm fine.

Then again, if they were that serious than they should celebrate Christmas in the summer. Scripture indicates that Jesus was born during the summertime and Christmas was only set in the winter as a nice transition for those who celebrated winter festivals like Saturnalia and Yule because of the Winter Solstice.

I don't think so.

Sorry about my ignorance, but where did they get those names? I've never heard them naming the days like that.

I konw about Friday, which is called "preparation day". And the Seventh-day Sabbath which means "rest". But about "Father's day, Spirit"s day, ... sorry I'd not heard them.

What do they mean?

Well, God bless you!

Nope - it's fine the way it is.

And to the person above me - don't blame the Pluto thing on Christians - we're not happy about it either.

Was this how they originally were? Interesting thought! What about the rest of the week?

The current names do not make sense anyway, so why not. I am a muslim by the way.
