Some of the Muslim countries compel the girls from the other religion (non Muslim) to wear “Abhaya” (The black gown to cover all the body and even face). Actually I couldn’t understand the necessity of wearing abhaya. Some of the Muslim girls who wear abyha, their body language is clear trough that black gown. The gown is that much tight and we can see even their panties through that. So I have a doubt here. Does abaya make any changes in culture or life style?

ABOUT PARDA (HIJAB)
WHY DO WOMEN HAVE TO COVER BUT NOT MEN?
plain and simple God wants women to dress in modesty and to cover. WHY? because women are like gorgeous Gems and they are to be protected from the evil in this world. Why women have to cover their breasts and not men. ? Because women and men in reality are physically, mentally and emotionally different. Women in Islam should cover all of their body except there face and there hands and a man in Islam should cover his body from his belly button to his knees. A man is also not aloud to expose his body but if u look around women are exposing their body more than men do. These are the laws of God and there is so much respect for women. women in Islam are like diamonds, cannot be touched or seen except with God's permission. She can have sex with her husband and husband can have sex with her wife but not outside marriage so as to be loyal to each other. Its nowonder the divorce rate is so much high in the west and thier marriages are not everlasting because they dont stick to one husband and wife but different boyfriends and girlfriends. Its not natural. Thier not sincere with eachother. Our women should not walk with bikini in the beach. look at the magazines, women of today have become Sex-sell things. So many western women are pornograghing. They are portrayed like show pieces, u may never have seen an add without a women. A woman is used to attract people not men. Islam respects women and puts them on a high position. As Islam is the continuation of Gods messages the other religions like Judaism and Christianity also preach that women must be covered but those religions were being modified. Have u ever wondered why NUNS have to cover but not the priests?

Western society falsely claims to have uplifted women

Western talk of women’s liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul, and deprivation of her honour. Western society claims to have ‘uplifted’ women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketeers, hidden behind the colourful screen of ‘art’ and ‘culture’.

USA has one of the highest rates of rape

United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries of the world. It also has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the world. According to a FBI report, in the year 1990, every day on an average 1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. The year was not mentioned. May be it was 1992 or 1993. May be the Americans got ‘bolder’ in the following years.

Consider a scenario where the Islamic hijaab is followed in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. Every woman wears the Islamic hijaab, that is the complete body is covered except the face and the hands upto the wrist. After this if any man commits rape he is given capital punishment. I ask you, in such a scenario, will the rate of rape in America increase, will it remain the same, or will it decrease?

Implementation of Islamic Shariah will reduce the rate of rapes

Naturally as soon as Islamic Shariah is implemented positive results will be inevitable. If Islamic Shariah is implemented in any part of the world, whether it is America or Europe, society will breathe easier. Hijaab does not degrade a woman but uplifts a woman and protects her modesty and chastity.

There is a big difference between women and men being EQUAL, and women and men being the SAME.

yoyodda: y do u bother wearing cloths then. u think rape is not a crime or death y dont u adopt animal lifestyle animal also dont wear cloths. y dont u walk naked in public then. Tell me what is the purpose of clothes. What is the difference b/w full cloths and bikini.

Which society has the highest rape figures , teenage pregnancy, single mothers, and homeless, bastards homeless old men? where did Aids originate from?Which society has the largest AIDS figures. Which society has distroyed the concept of a family. These are exactly the kind of things that Islamic rules would help avoid. Your answer is plain and simple if you just do a little research.
I challenge u to compare America's crime rates with Saudi Arabia(which runs under sharia) and answer me who has the highest crime rates. BE A LITTLE REALISTIC

You really have no right to judge and label your friend's family as they are bigot. The truth is that are right in the covering thing. Cover is a must, however more or less cover does not nullify one's Islam but you clearly said: "I would never be a muslim if hijab is a must". Listen, do you know what Tawheed means? It means three things and when you utter the Shahada, you agree with the "terms and conditions of Islam". If you deny something which is in the Qur'aan, which was revealed by Allah (SWT) through Jibreel and Mohammed (SAWS) then i think you should sit down and think what do you really want. If something really tiny like a scarf can tear you apart from Islam then this issue is serious and you should talk to an imaam/sheik etc. Hijab which means cover is part of our faith and denying the role of the hijab is not just not nice but very dangerous and indicates the lack of knowledge and faith. Seek help till you can! (I mean till you feel you are interested in Islam and you are saveable/rescuable)

First, watch your way when you are driving. It seems some people are so pervert that they concentrate on things that are well covered and try to catch any tiny detail or profile of a women that may eliminate the sex thirst he feels away from Indian girls back home who are dressed Sary (Indian women dress) that is really sexy with no doubt.

Second, Wearing a black abaya is a religious obligation and not a cultural heritage only.

It can be any dress that is covering the profile of the women body from perverts and specially thirsty Indians.

Black is selected because it is not as transparent as other colors for the same reason above.

You are right; it does not make sense to wear an abaya so tight that it even reveals the panty through! No one even said hijab has to be an abaya which has to be black. The conditions for what the muslim woman should wear is that it should be loose (not tight so that you see what's underneath through it or it details the features of the body) and thick (not transparant so you see the body through it) and not so brightly attractive to the eye, like phosphoric colours, if I got the word right.

Wearing a black abaya is only a cultural heritage, not a religous obligation.

By the way, why do you look so closely?

Abayah is a part of the hijab. Hijab is the full covering and the abayah is one part of this. The term abaya is used in the gulf. Many women who wear the abaya do not know the condition of hijab so they end up wearing something that could be misinterpreted as the hijab muslim women wear ( like the questioner above has done) To know more about Hijab go to www.understand-islam.net.

Covering all of her body for muslima is a must as an instruction stated by Allah in the holy qur'an for the sake of the sfety of muslima herself. From toes up to her hair for muslima is privy which should be covered. But if abhaya stuff is very thin and much tight so her body language can be seen clearly,it is not in line with God's instruction. Her abhaya should be more dick stuff and do not so tight so her panties can not be seen..Its color can be vary as she likes it such as white, pink, blue etc but many muslimas wear black gown as a life style not changes in culture.

Depending on who is wearing what. Abaya as a religious adherence shouldn't convay any body details or be of any tightness, opposite to Abaya of fashion which can be anthing the devil would imagine.

If a woman is well covered and she is doing this for the sake of Allah and to repect and follow his words, then she will not walk a filthy walk that seduces men, but if she is doing this for hiding its real tuth, then sure the lady inside the abaya is no different than the one iside the Bikkini.

the only thing I'm finding online search for "Abhaya" is a martial arts or something... indian type things... nothing islamic at all...

and what you describe doesn't sound like a islamic thing at all.... in fact it sounds profoundly counter-muslim, (big on modesty and such)

what I first thought you meant was the Hijab, but thats not even remotely like what you describe (not tight, or showing like that at all)

from the other posts... using their spelling... well, from wikipedia "It is the traditional form of hijab, or Islamic modest dress,"
sounds like the person your getting this idea of how its supposed to be worn, ... well missed the point...

the way you describe it, does mak it sound attractive (something many seem to miss nowadays... that sometimes not seeing can be more attractive than everything being shown) but none of the women I've ever EVER seen with something like that wore it in such a way... in fact most I've seen seemed to wear it in a way that was specifically to hide any figure or remotely sexual body language. ... which of course is the point.

The crux of what AJMAL has written is that if a woman wears the hijab then the incidents of rape will greatly decrease. Hence hijab needs to be made compulsory for women. This simple statement hides more than it reveals.
Firstly I would like to ask a counter question - Thousands of people are killed yearly in automobile accidents in a country. So furthering Ajmal's logic, should not all cars be banned?
The answer is obviously no. Why - Because in any situation there is always a risk return trade off. In this case the advantages derived from using the auotmobile (as indeed any technology) far outweigh the disadvantages.
Similarly in the case of women & the hijab - when women are equal to men in every sense of the word they have every right to work shoulder to shoulder. They have every right to wear clothes of their choosing (whether it is a hijab or a T shirt). Further rape is not really linked to the hijab but is more is more a product of lifestyle - if a woman goes drinking in pubs, returns alone late etc. she stands a greater chance of being raped whether she wears the hijab or not.
Ajmal says - women SHOULD be covered properly - there you have the typical muslim response of FORCING people to do something whether they like it or not.
Further, unlike in Islamic societies, rape in western societies is not considered to be something equivalent to death. Hence most rapes are reported and make it to the statistics.
However in Islamic Islamic societies I believe there are an equal (if not greater) number of rapes. The only difference is that such incidents are almost always hushed up. This is because unlike in western societies, rape is a matter of loss of honour for not only the rape victim but for her entire family.
So much for equality to women.

You urself have made a point obvious that men look closely EVEN when girls wear abayas....so imagine if they don't?!

If women make their abayas too tight, tht's their fault. but actually abaya is a good thing as it covers all body parts of a woman to protect herslef from men's wrong gazes.

covering the hands and face is an option.

what is abhaya? there is only Hijab in Islam which is MODEST clothing -- something not displaying or provocative. and as far as i have seen there is no Hijab which is a tight -fitted one, if they do that it is wrong. and what they wear shouldnt bother others, for they dont bother about other's women. also who wouldnt want to have a hijab from prying eyes, esp when perverts who intentionally look for panty-lines are around?. and btw, i dont think there is any religion or even faith -- that would allow women or men -- for that matter - to hang around nude/semi-nude in public. all religions say dont display the privates.

also i think you come from a country where women are kept in veils and do not show their face too?. last year when i visited India, that was what i saw. and they wernt even muslims . and fyi, they too love to cover their women when there are perverts around.
