You won't get any guy with low self esteem like that. You've got to believe in yourself and have confidence. You can be what you want, do what you want and say what you want. All he can do is say no thank you, go for it.

if he is shy, be friendly, smile, ask him questions about himself (like if he has any brothers and sisters) and if you are scared to approach him, then pay attention to who else he talks to and make friends with them
