I don't know why folks think your intent is to write a virus...this is a pretty basic question, and a real virus author would know the answer without having to ask!

You can LINK to an .exe file the same way you'd link to any other web resource: "My Program Depending on the browser and the security settings, the user will be prompted to either run or save the file.

I believe Flash also allows such links, but I'm not sure how it's done.

If you want to actually EMBED a running program within a page, you'll need to learn some programming and use a technology like ActiveX or Java.

Perhaps you can achieve the effect you want with some Menu Creation software. Here's one example:

And there's lots of similar programs out there if you look around.

I don't think that info will do much for you if you're writing a virus, but if your intentions are innocent, I hope that helps.

!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, so do you want to run an IM in a Web Page, or do you want to run an IM in your browser? If you want to run an IM in your browser, then if you get the Yahoo Toolbar and add Yahoo Messenger, a Messenger panel will appear in the side of your browser, although the actual client will be free-floating. MSN Toolbar may offer a similar feature with MSN Messenger. Another option for a browser-contained Messenger can be found here:

If you want to have IM within an actual web page, the closest you'll be able to get without learning a lot of programming or paying some money is probably a chat room. MSN Spaces lets you create your own chat room, but they charge for the service.

You might be able to buy an IM ActiveX control that could be embedded in a web page, but I doubt if you could find one for free. Here's one for 99 bucks:

If you go that route, download the trial first to make sure it works.

As for chat rooms, there are lots of free chat rooms you can add to your web site. Here are just a couple:

If you do a search, you'll find many more.

Well, that's just about everything I know on this topic, hope it helps somehow.

Hi, I have Highlighted a few websites below that you can reference to and get the required info you may need. My best guess is improper file association type in the registry. Check the links ive added and im pretty sure youll find your solution, If you still need help, post back. As a sidenote, the source of the problem could be something you'd need to figure out , my suggestion is you get a good antivirus , install it ,update and scan your P.C, personal preference of mine is Avast as it can do a boot time scan and it has pretty decent range of features. I'd also encourage you to get Malawarebytes antimalaware and go thought the same sequence as mentioned above. Last but not least , get a registry cleaner Example, Ccleaner and clean out temp files and scan for registry errors. Avast, ccleaner and malawarebytes are all free apps and you can find them by searching on the web using google or other search engines. Regards John.

I agree with the first reply. Sounds like you're just looking for another way to embed viruses into other formats.
