I have a lovely 10 year old moggie. I live in a ground floor apartment so she just jumps over the balcony and explores the gardens all day and at night she will sit on my balcony and meow so loud! I feed her well and she is allowed inside whenever she wants.
There is a man that lives upstairs who hates my cat and screams "shutup!" when she meows.

What can I do to stop her meowing because it really is annoying!

Thanks for the answer, but I really don't want to give her away....that would be cruel as she has been with me for so long. I couldn't do it, I would feel terrible! Yes, I have thought about getting her de -meowed when she has been very annoying but wouldn't really do that it's so cruel.

give her to someone in the country, shes speaking and thats all there is to it, she cant be changed unless you have her vocal cords cut by a vet, which is cruel.

Malinda, that is very cruel to "de-meow" and "de-bark". It is a fix not a solution.

Maybe, as she is now 10 and middle aged, it would be better for her to be inside at night. If you are in the northern hemisphere, it is coming on to winter and perhaps she is feeling a bit chilly and lonely(?).
Give that a go and see what happens.

Well, she is asking you if she can go out and run around. Cats are night creatures. My friend lets her cat go out, and she always comes back. I don't know how you feel about that, because I personally would not want that either, thinking the cat might not come back, or get hurt. But, that is what she is wanting. Ask the Vet about it.

i wouldnt get her de mowed thats sad she is singing u songs :) its weird to have a vocal cat maybe she is lonley maybe u should get a new kitty to keep her occupied?? i had 2 cats and when we had to get rid of one the one we kept cried all the time and it can be really annoying. cats generally dont meow unless they want something... food, attention, she may be sad or sick id talk to a vet just to make sure and hey cats are cheap and cute and dont take up to much space u can always get her a roomate :)

You better cuddle it or get a ball of yarn and play with your cat. I am sure, it will lessen its meowing.
