Not a single witness, from either the three or eight witnesses of the Book of Mormon, ever denied their testimony. Many of them fell away from the church, but some rejoined at a later date. Even though the witnesses left the church, the all held that the Book of Mormon was real and true.

My seminary teacher told me this story about one of the witnesses that fell away (I'm not sure which one, though because it was a couple of weeks ago and I not completely sure on how accurate it is, but I know that this is the gist of the story)

One witness was in a bar, and he eventually came completely drunk. When he was officially drunk some Anti-Mormons tried to convince him to lie and say that he never saw the plates and that the Book of Mormon was false. Even when he was drunk he firmly held to his testimony and said that without a doubt the Book of Mormon was true.

So even when a witness was drunk (at a point where most are liars and make terrible mistakes) he held true to his witness.

The three witnesses left the Church. They all had disagreed and had a falling out with Joseph Smith. Nevertheless none of them ever denied their testimony. Many years later Martin Harris was rebaptized.

Some fell away from the church but none of them EVER denied what they saw, did, any of it. They quit the church, they never denied their testimony of it though.

Anu,
Hi! Are you Mormon? Jesus is Lord, yes? Praise be to Jesus Christ.

I have no idea which witnesses you are referring to. I am not a Mormon. I have met one that I was sure was saved. He would say, "It's all about Jesus, you have to trust in Jesus."

I think that he had it right!
