Originally, I was sceptical about doing online classes. I was concerned that my money would be gone and or I would not get credits that were valid or non transferrable.

A little homework before you get to the hard homework.

Find the college that you would like to attend. If you have not gone to a college before, I would recommend a community college to start with as they are considerably less expensive and the classes are more in line with working up to the really hard ones.

Online classes are great for those that have to work or have children to work around. Some classes offer flexible hours.

Go to the school of your choice. You may find that your school has a web page and you can tell if they have online classes available from that. OR you may call their admissions office and ask them. Make your phone call count. If they say "no, they do not" then ask them who they would recommend that would be credible. You may get your best advice from them.

Give it a shot, I loved my classes, I met alot of neat people from all over the world and it fit my schedule and check book just right.

Be prepared to practice self discipline though. Make yourself do the time to do the work. It pays.

Just check the website for your local college and there should be a list of online classes that are available. Register as you normally would, enroll in the class, submit a request for an account on shool network. You may be required to attend an in-person class initially, you may also be required to take exams and finals on campus. But after that you take the course at whatever pace you choose. There are deadlines set for assignments, contact information for the instructor. There usually are forums so you can ask questions of your instructor and classmates.

My daughter takes some of her classes online. Register with the school and when picking classes check out the online ones. One problem did occur. During a test our DSL went down and the rules state that you can't re-log on to a test so she had to take a failing grade on it. She didn't have enough completed for a passing grade. After that she went to the school computer lab to take tests.
