Also, why doesn't God destroy the tallest building we have today? Are you telling me that people over 2000 years ago build higher towers than modern people?

Adyghe, I notice that you went back and tried to correct your grammar with some commas. I'm sorry, but it's still wrong. You should make sure that your English is perfect before criticizing others.

It's the thoughts of what they were doing, they thought they were good enough to be God, Satan did the same thing and look where he is now. The people of babel found out as Satan did not to think we are anything near what God is, we earn our place in heaven by how we live not because of any power we might have.

The tower was not destroyed. God wanted humans to spread out over the earth. Instead, they stayed in one spot and began to construct a tower. God confused their language so they could no longer communicate on the building project. Since they could no understand one another, they left off further construction of the tower.

I doubt you're wanting a serious answer, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

One word - hubris. God saw that, if all the people on earth could unite under a single language, their sheer pride would destroy them - Babel itself was merely symbolic. Better to confound their technological advancement than leave them in a state of thinking they can challenge God (that is, a spiritually dead state).

Actually, according to Genesis, heaven is on the 'other side of the sky'. God divided the waters with a solid object... the 'firmament' (the sky)... when he created heaven and earth. One half of the waters went on the heaven side of the sky... the other half stayed on the earth side. God became fearful that the tower would reach the firmament, and men would succeed in penetrating into his domain. That's why he confounded their language so they could no longer cooperate and complete their project.

One would think that an omnipotent god could have come up with some kind of more immediate and effective method.

The evidence of Scripture points to the land of Shinar as the post-Flood birthplace of false religious concepts. Undoubtedly under the direction of Nimrod, “a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah,” the building of the city of Babel and its tower, likely a ziggurat to be used for false worship, began. This building project was undertaken, not to bring honor to Jehovah God, but for the self-glorification of the builders, who desired to make “a celebrated name” for themselves. Also, it was in direct opposition to God’s purpose, which was for mankind to spread about in the earth. The Almighty frustrated the plans of these builders by confusing their language. No longer being able to understand one another, they gradually left off building the city and were scattered.

God looked down and said,

Lets confuse them, if they keep going with wisdom, they will be like a god. And have no need for us.

or, they communicate to good, and the leader is becoming there god, and soon they all wont listen to us,

or, lets just play a game on the race, lets change theire color, ther language, and send them to different nations so later they will fight with each other,

the first answer is correct.
