I have a two year old pug who absolutely loves being outside. It really all depends on each individual dog. The main problem with pugs and the weather is their short nose. It doesn't allow them to disipate the heat from their bodies as well as other dogs can. You just need to keep a close eye on him and see how he handles being outside. Take him out in your yard first and see if he is okay being in the heat for a while. Excessive snorting and panting is a good sign he might not be a good beach dog.

If you really want to take him, be sure to take a lot of water that is always available to him. You might also want to bring an umbrella to give him some shade. Try not to let him do a lot of running around, and be sure to have a spot on a towl (and off the hot sand) ready for him. Basically, just let him do what puggies do best....sleep!

The biggest thing is to get to know him and what he can and can't handle.

Pugs will let you know when they are getting too hot..Ours would begin panting hard, and just sit down..
He should be fine if he doesn't have to be too active...You can wet him down with a wet washcloth to help him stay cool..If he will play in the surf, then he will stay cool..

lots and lots of shade don't let his/her paws get hurt on the hot sand, wash the paws make shore that there is no sand on his/her body, after you leave the beach.
